Actually, Brooks and Durant going to WAS would be a best possible situation since I don't believe Durant has any interest in coming here.
Harden won't have to hear complaints about the ball being "sticky" under Thibs. It's how Thibs runs his offense, ie keep the ball in the hands of the star player. See T-Mac & Rose.
God, I hope you're right. Thibs would be perfect for this team. I'm just afraid he'll turn down the gig since there's so much uncertainty surrounding the roster heading into next season.
The more i think about it, were nuts if we think Thibs wants to come here with Morey around. No way they get along and with Thibs wanting power? Forget about it.
You assume that neither has learned from their failures. Thibs lost his job. He must realize he can't control everything as head coach. Morey was the architect of one of the biggest falls from grace in Rockets history. He must understand that the coach and GM need to have a synergistic relationship in order to be competitive with top teams. Both are smart men. To everyone else those realities are as clear as day.
Do you have eyes? Have you seen the complete lack of discipline, basic skill development and accountability by the players? Thibs is a master at getting players to play hard, be held accountable and he is the best/most innovative defensive coach in basketball in 50 years. This narrative that Thibs is going to kill our players is funny.... James Harden already leads the NBA in minutes played.
Ettore Messina? Minchia. Lascia tutta speranza; purtroppo non c’é ne. But if he's held more accountable on the defensive end (which would be, you know, like, good; no one will argue that point), I'm sure James will want to bring his minutes per game down a little bit. Hopefully Morey's next at-bat won't be a swing and a miss (Lawson), as far as bringing in talent to put alongside James Harden.
I am down with thibs. People seem to forget thibs has been evolving and opening up about the progressive change of the NBA. He has been going to the Sloan conferences and has met with Morey and such. I think he realizes the importance of stats and data and is willing to be open about working with Morey. Morey for all the hate he receives has instilled a philosophy that works offensively even with players that are not perfect fits for the system. Thibs can recognize that and that its the future of basketball. Give Thibs a contract and I think him and morey would work beautifully together.
I can never trust these rumors. McHale was pretty unexpected last time Thibs plays guys too many minutes but it's possible he's learned
Yes on Larranga.... no on McMillan.... yes on Fizdale.... no on Griffin/Elie... yes on Ettore Messina and Ron Adams. I would give your left nut for Clifford, Budenholzer or Stevens..... I would add to your list Kenny Atkinson.
I fully expect Thibs to to be the favorite to land the Minnesota position as he'll likely be given significantly more power with them than with Houston. Combine that with a young team that already contains 2 potential stars along with a Top 5 draft pick, and you've got a very enticing offer. Still wish Houston would go after Kevin Ollie, even if he's not extremely interested in leaving UCONN. I'm a little tired of re-treads.
