Just curious since Dwight is on his way out the door...what do people think? What big man can thrive in this system that we are currently playing? I'm talking about the 5 anchor here. Not spread 4's or traditional power forwards. But the big tater in the middle. Who? Name them and tell me why they would be great as the defensive anchor/rim protector for this team.

    1. Can he get up and down the floor fast?

    2. Can he dominate the defensive paint and boards and anchor our D? If yes, based on what evidence?

    3. Our system minimizes the use of the midrange jumper. Is he willing to give up that shot and move out to the 3-point line? And can he be efficient scoring the 3-ball in volume to help us?

    4. Is he willing to sign a 4-year contract to be a teams defensive anchor at the 5?

My understanding for a long time has been that he wants to play the 4 and Atlanta may have to entertain trading Millsap to accommodate him. So I can't see him in this role until I learn something different.

I also don't see him being fast enough to run down the floor and get involved in our offense since we go so fast. And I don't see him as a dominant paint/rim protector and rebounder. And in our system, especially playing a gambling type defensive system that puts a lot of pressure on our 5 man defensively.

we dont play defense and dont pass to our post up players so i would go after guys like kendrick perkins, joey dorsey, ryan hollins, etc.
useless players but can always give the other team's star player a good knee check or body slam

A Dwight / Horford combo might work. Not to the degree the Aldridge pickup did, but enough to propel us to a top 4 seed in the West.

If they trade Millsap we should be all over that.

I wouldn't be so worried about the current system anymore.

A big that can block shots and rebound is whats needed. This is the worst defensive rebounding team in the league and losing dwight in offseason is gonna be brutal

Horford either takes more 3 pointers than anyone else at the center position or is close to the the leader depending on definition of center. He is efficient enough as a center to be guarded at 3 point line. Offensively, Horford would help out Harden in the half court a ton. If the Rockets ran the PnR with Harden and the PF, Horford would be able to replace at the top of the key.

He's smart enough on defense to help some despite not being too much of a rim protector. He would hurt the running game, but the half court offense would have a chance to be aesthetic and efficient depending on other players.

Brewer and Joshua Smith for KAT

    Who says no?

Fan favorite returns to Minny and Joshua Smith's wide body is excellent for setting picks. Rubio, their offensively challenged PG, needs all the help he can get so having a superior pick-setter would help him become below-average.

And Rockets finally get what they thought they had in Eddie Griffin.
