No clue? Do you even know? LOL. It's funny how an agenda driven person can find fault with everything.
Trying to figure out if you are just dumb or stupid, or have reading comprehension issues. I have no issue with what Morey is doing at all - I am just pointing out that he is a self promoter - he is - and he is using his station to build up his brand - he is - and that is the way that social media works and it is smart - it is. Sorry you can't get your head out of his ass fast enough to understand the context. DD
I've had a couple conversations with Daryl, and he was extremely transparent, and SUPER chill. I don't get the idea at all that he's a self-promoter. He's just a GM for an NBA team (you get the attention whether you want it or not, an entire city/nation scrutinizes every decision you make), but he also just likes to cut it up on social media. He's a social guy and is hip with the younger generation, and those aren't qualities a lot of GM's have. He talks about basketball and analytics because that's his life. He was asked what he'd do if he won the lottery, and his first answer was "I'd try to buy the Rockets". I honestly think he takes the pressure off the coach doing interviews, and because of his social media presence, he's a more likeable interview. I think you've got him all wrong...
I agree with most of what you said, but I also know he is super smart, and keenly aware of what social media is about - look, I don't think that is a bad thing, I do it myself, I admire that he is doing it. But to ignore that he is, well, I guess that is your opinion - not mine. DD
First they fan-boy, then they scape-goat. The higher they are, the harder they fall. "In Morey, we trust" created too high of a pedestal, it was only a matter of time before fans started trying to push him down.
It's called tooting your own horn - no shame in it. Upper management likes to see what value you bring to an organization, a la, "what have you done for me lately?". But really, he's a stats geek, and most geeks love to share something they're proud of. I have no qualms with him posting whatever he wants to on his twitter account, as long as it doesn't run counter to the Rockets brand. That would surely put him in hot water.
Morey needs to focus on getting a coach and players to win a championship. After a while, his old school non social media owner is going to start looking for results.
His personal success is tied to the Rockets' success... if the Rockets' are sucking then it's not going to help his brand at all.
Yes and no, because he can tweet about his analytics conference, or plays he likes, or games, anything other than the Rockets and still gain followers. The Rockets fans are the main source of his followers, but he himself is a brand who has other interests and he gets followers there too. Social media marketing is here to stay - will give DM credit for being well ahead of that curve. DD
I think people are taking it as if you're saying "he's only on there in order to self-promote". I think he's posting these things first and foremost because it's the stuff he thinks about 98% of the day...but there is also some self-promotion in there as there is with almost any social media. A little different on a forum where you're anonymized to a degree, but--I think it's analogous to people saying "DD only posts on the Rockets forum because he wants everyone to know he is a huge Rockets fan and knows about basketball." No...you really like the Rockets. And you want to discuss it. And maybe there's also some element of wanting others to know your "brand" as a poster.
I agree - he is only posting stuff he finds cool, but he is keenly aware that it helps build his brand and most GMs do not stay in one job forever. Not sure why people think it's a bad thing - anyway. Him talking about what he likes is self promoting, so what? Again, I think it is smart - not arguing against it......it seems people have an issue with him building his own brand, or thinking he is cognizant of it, not my issue, I know he is well aware - and is smartly doing and managing it. DD

Rockets go all year by being outscored per game, and in the last 2 games they go from .7ppg as a deficit to .2 ppg in the good. We outscored our opponents for the year. DD
Playoff success is always about being hot at the right time. Rockets have caught FIRE. Sure, you can say the competition was weak, but these are the exact games we'd either lose or barely win earlier in the season. Instead of blowing leads, we were actually sustaining and expanding them. It is a very good trend for the team and a sign of a complete reversal for the better.
the competition was weak. well, you said we could say it. You realize the Warriors are just a wee little bit better than that Sacramento Kings team we vanquished last night, no?
