    I wouldn't throw Carter a fastball.

Why not? Giles throws over 93 and Carter couldn't hit a pitch faster than 93 all year last year.

But when he does get a hit... its usually connecting on a fastball. I thought he turned around a 95 mph one late in the season vs. Seattle last year?

Anyways, the good slider is enough to get most good hitters out, let alone those of the free-swinging K variety like Carter.

It needs to be on for him to be elite. Its probably his best weapon.

His fastball, while fast, doesn't seem to have much movement.

    Welp, Castro is making contact....

Not sure if I could put up another full season of staring at strike 3 right down the middle only to turn around and argue the call.

So far so good on that front.

As with most fireballers a good slider is deadly if used properly.

Yeah, I think he did late in the season. I just remember them showing a stat late in the season for Carter on pitches over 93 and his average was .083 or something terrible like that.
