One of the reasons i like the idea of going after Noah and or Horford, plus i don't want to waste time with chasing Durant.

Give me a team filled with high motor, passionate players with great basketball IQ over just a 1 or 2 man show.

He chose Dorsey over Deandre Jordan. I believed Morey when he made that pick, because Jordan was thought to be an erratic talent. Dorsey turned to be a near bust.

We sure could have used Deandre now.

Should we draft a player? Or should we trade everything for key player (s)?

If there is something Morey hasn't been good at is picking in the lottery. Those late lottery picks (like the one we are about to clinch) have mostly sucked.

You're talking about Ariza contract like it's negative value  that's a good contract, very good in fact. Teams like the Kings may want to trade picks for a player like Ariza.

I'm hoping for either Diamond Stone or Dragan Bender -- just because I like their names.

I don't have confidence in Mauri drafting in the 10-20 range. History tells me he is likely to pick a bust like White or Dekker or stupidity like Mook over Kawhi or flame outs like TJ

I would rather Mauri either trade into the top 7 or trade down into the 2nd round. There is no history of how he would do in the top 7 but he is a decent lower first round (20+ pick)and 2nd round drafter.

Well sure. But how many other teams missed on Deandre? Be careful with that type of reasoning.

We can get the 12th I think !!!

What this team needs is playmaking from the perimeter , I don't think we can get that at a high level from the draft this year . Of course this all depends on the board at the time , I think you go for either advanced athletes at the 1/2/3 or preferably an athletic big . This offseason is crucial as I hope we enter a retooling phase . It will be tempting to focus on vets and marquee free agents . But I would rather pick up several solid veterans and pick up an exciting prospect in the draft and maybe try to trade for another pick as well .

We have some guys on our team like Capela , harrel , KJ , and Dekker that could all turn into solid players . They should be able to compete for a spot .

I believe that entering the offseason after Dwight leaves we are gonna have holes at the 1,4, and 5 . I'm ok giving the year to Capela and trying to resign Dmo and giving them chances to become productive , consistent players at those spots . I like Ariza and I like bev as a backup . We need more athleticism in the backcourt and at the 3 . Given that guards and wings are a bit cheaper than bigs I'd like to see us focus there in free agency and try and lock in on a big in the draft.

Do you think Harden and Rubio would work together? I'm not sure. Rubio isn't a good shooter, his strength is his playmaking for his teammates and for that he needs the ball. Do we take the ball away from Harden?

For this team to win a championship Harden has to become the secondary playmaker and we have to have a primary playmaker. Rubio is light-years ahead of Harden at creating for his teammates and taking care of the basketball. Probably the biggest reason why the Harden/Howard era failed was because Dwight didn't have anybody to get him the ball in scoring position. Dwight finishing is one of the very most efficient offensive plays we have. Rubio has the creativity to get both guys the ball in places where all they have to do is lift and finish.

As far as Harden and Rubio working together.....something has to change here. We can't keep pointing to being a top 7 offense and IGNORING the effects that this offense is having on our defense and the other players on the court. Too many times in crunch time against the better teams we are smothered out because we are all Harden. And Harden is going to be worn down like a set of tires with 50,000 miles on them in another season or two. Harden and the Rockets are just asking for a disaster to befall us by Harden playing the way he does and dominating the ball so much. We are never going to win a championship with Harden dominating the basketball at the top. Never.

To the poster that says I'm drilled in to Rubio...yes, I have full confidence that Rubio would make this team great. But...he's not the only one. Mike Conley would no doubt do a good job here as well in the primary playmaker's role. But Conley is going to cost $20 million in cap space. Rubio is on a very reasonable contract.

Your argument makes sense. Thing is, Harden won't accept giving the ball away. He's not a Tim Duncan type of player who would do anything so that his team would win.
