Nope, you don't hit Valbuena against the lefty, you use Marwin there. You have Correa on base, a pitcher that had no job until 2 days, and you have your good hitters hitting behind, YOU DON'T GIVE OUTS.

Hitting Valbuena 4th and Castro 7th was a BIG MISTAKE on this game, BIG.

1-3, rough way to start the season off.

But man, do we ever have a first baseman right now, and not to mention a DH as well when we get home in Tucker.

Get this pitching situation settled down, and this team is going to get on a nice streak I can feel it.

    2B - Altuve
    RF - Springer
    SS - Correa
    LF - Colby
    1B - White
    CF - Gomez
    DH - Tucker
    3B - Val
    C - Castro

Just my opinion on what I'd like to see the line up be for the home opener against KC.

Gomez is starting to show signs of hitting the ball, and Tucker/White continue to just destroy the ball. Colby will come around so I'd like to keep him in the 4 spot for now unless he completely crashes.

Yes, 1-3 looks doom and gloom right now, but I just have a positive feeling about how this season is about to take a positive turn. My apologies for being positive in a negative time.

I had a problem where a runner clearly goes in to take a player out but this **** here is rediculous.

I like that lineup, now. I don't really like to see 3 lefties hitting in a row, but that is the best lineup we can send out there.

    Great tweet by Dallas.

Seriously that last play did not feel like the baseball I grew up loving.

    That was so weak.

Why were you even commenting in this thread? Didn't you give up early in the game again? Also, since the Astros NEEDED to win yesterday and didn't, isn't the season already over?

I gotta cool down I feel the umps robbed us of a comeback that could have went a long way for this team.

Season? No, series, it looks bad.

Now, i can assure you that if we have Castro hitting 7th tomorrow, and Valbuena 4th, we are GOING TO LOSE.

well, that was his purpose. there's no other reason he would have overslid the base.

Is a pity because that was not a double play ball, it was an unnecessary slide.

Did he? He slide through not 5 ft to the left or right. If a fielder is standing in the direct path then he SHOULD be fair game.

He clearly slid past the base, and not into the base as a player normally would.

You can argue about whther or not a DP should be gifted when the player wasn't even trying to turn it. But it is inarguable that Rasmus broke the new rule.

White and Devenski are new ballers to accompany Tucker and Correa.

Some vets (and others) are severely slacking, but there are good surprises too.

This slow start overall can (probably will) flip quick.

At what point will they stop tweaking the game all in the name of safety?

So far, they got rid of catcher collisions (never really understood why that was a part of the game initially.... But I figured since catchers got to wear all that excess padding that nobody else gets to wear, it allowed them to get rammed).

They now have gotten rid of breaking up double plays (was always fine with the old rules... If a team wants to get 2 outs on one ball, it has to earn it... And the offense has the right to attempt to break that up any way possible).

What's next... No more high/inside pitches? They do cause injury... And often their purpose is to make the batter uncomfortable.

After that, you might as well get rid of players running into walls to make catches... It's too risky. If they look like they probably would have been able to get to the ball, it's an out.

We live in a world that is obsessed with protecting people. Can really say that's a bad thing, but there's also a part of me that is OK with the danger if you know what you are signing up for ahead of time.

I don't think it will effect baseball that much. I really don't see any more rule changes for personal safety, but I think it's gonna be what leads to the downfall of football as the country's most popular sport.
