Trade up for Buddy Hield or just get Domantas Sabonis in the first round. In second round we draft AJ Hammons or Zhou Qi. Then Morey buys one/couple late 2nd round picks with money.

You list 10 "good" pics by Morey and then say it's not impressive.

Ive asked this question many times to people. Just name the GM's who have drafted better than Morey in the past 10 years. Then look at their draft position.

Morey has been above average at drafting (especially when you consider his intent with his picks) by any measure.

FTW is a braindead broken record.

First of all, does anyone trust Morey to make the correct pick?? After passing on K. Leonard a few yrs back and drafting S. Dekker this pass yr. my trust in D. Morey is fallen. This team didn't just get like this overnite!

DARYL IS BETTER AT TRADING PLAYERS, THAN DRAFTING THEM
. If I were Daryl, I would look at trading the #1 and #2 pick, Montrez Harrell and Brewer to Chicago for J. Butler.

I prefer to draft a young wing. Luwawu or Korkmaz. After that tehre are two ok pg prospects Baldwin (who looks like a great fit next to Harden) and Valentine.
I don't think that the Rockets should gamble on Thon Maker and should look for a guy with potential to contribute sooner than 2 years away.

10 good picks out of 22 ain't that great. And BTW, those "good" picks aren't all that good. Lamb is not a good player. He was just useful in the Harden trade. Budinger was a nice find in the 2nd round, but he's a below average NBA player. Morris is decent. Jones is mediocre. D-Mo is mediocre(outside of last season). Canaan is mediocre. Capela and Montrezl are too young and raw at this stage of their respective careers. They could wind up being solid pros, but they could also flame out within a few years. We'll see.

And even when he does find a good player, they're no longer here within a few years. Landry? Gone. Patterson? Gone. Parsons? Gone. Brooks? Gone. And the guy he got us in return, Dragic? Gone.

You look at this roster right now, and what good players did we acquire via the draft? Dwight we signed. Ariza we signed. Bev we plucked out of Russia. Beasley we plucked out of China. Pretty much Capela, Harden(acquired via trade involving players and picks), and KJ(acquired via trade for Canaan) are the only real impact players right now who have any link to Morey's drafting record. The rest of the roster either sucks or isn't very good.

Other than Capella, we have not been doing a good job with our 1st round draft picks for a long time.

I can already picture draft night in my head.

Adam Silver: "With the 13th pick, the Houston Rockets select, 'Undersized PowerFoward' from the University of CANsas."

Kenny Smith: "Decent pick by the Houston Rockets. 'Undersized PowerFoward' has some skills that will help the Rockets but the problem is he is a tweener. Not big enough to bang down low with the PF's and not quick enough to guard NBA SF's."

You don't even have to look at just the #13 pick. You can look at every pick #13 and higher.

Because the #14, #15, etc. picks were available to be drafted at #13.

I want Sabonis. If he's not there, i don't see much else around that pick. Trade it along with Corey Brewer to get out of that contract. The only light in this dark season is to be able to clear the entire rosters long contracts. Let Harden, Beasley, Cappela and the rookies/young guys be the only ones under contract heading into free agency. Going in with 1 superstar and 1 6th man of the year contender is a good start to build around.

yeah I really hope we draft a wing instead. Wings are much harder to get in Free agency and we already have two if not three big prospects.
Both Luwawu and Korkmaz can shoot, and are athletic even though they can't really defend. Luwawu has the tools to perhaps become a good defender.

Based on what? Seems most of Morey's players go on to get paid which shows they have value. How many other teams consistently churn out role players like we do? Or what other team? Spurs? Warriors? And?

Gary Payton II somehow reminds me of Nick Johnson.

Getting paid doesn't mean someone's a good player. T-Jones might get paid this offseason despite having a horrible season.
