They've had opening days in early April over the last 100 years... there's always been freak weather they've had to deal with. The main problem is that there are far more northern/cold weather teams than not. Even St. Louis and KC can be cold and see snow this time of year. I'm sure at some point, they tried to see if every early April game could be scheduled in Arizona, San Diego, LA, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Tampa, Milwaukee, Toronto, Oakland and San Fran (warm weather or dome)... but its just not that simple (from both an AL/NL scheduling standpoint or just logistics).
Yeah.... I think I'm just bitter because we've waited so long for Astros baseball, and this weather is making me wait more lol. Either way, I hope they can fit today's game in.

On offense, Kratz cant do worse than Castro. Good to see him get the opportunity. Id be tempted to switch the 5 & 8. Put Tucker in the 5 and Gomez in the 8. And if Kratz is a dud on offense today, him and Go Go could be a inning ending combo.
I hear you... just funny to see the same complaints about early April weather every year. If anything, they were looking to start the season earlier to avoid the bad weather affecting games with a tad more meaning, like the World Series. Ideally, a shorter season could solve both problems (you start a little later and finish up a little earlier), but owners are making too much money right now to want to change any aspect of the game.

so will Devenski be available for the game today? Based on yesterday's fiasco, they'll need a long-relief option...
I was digging through the archives at the baseball Hall of Fame, and discovered that their used to be a beg inning that came before the first inning.
Gomez will be fine, it's two games If these two games happen in the middle of the season, no one says anything But when it's all the stats you have to look at, it looks terrible Castro on the other hand, so bad at the plate...and then he is the one that starts the crap in the first yesterday with the interference....
Gomez has not done anything to deserve the 5 hole. Once again I watch him with 2 men on and no outs hit into DP to kill a possible rally and that throw into the ground was pretty pitiful. He is trying too hard but at some point he has to produce because as of right now Marisnick is the better option and has been since he got here.
Gomez is a proven star in this league, you have to let him ride it out longer then this. You cant just pull him after 2 games
I agree that we dont make a permanent change right now, but I do see unexpected day off in his near future if he is no-show again today.

Can't afford to have another bullpen game.
Not sure how you can call Marisnick a better option considering how lost he's looked at the plate himself. Sure, he's a better defender but I'll take the chance on Gomez waking up and his bat becoming an actual force. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a big game today honestly.
That's why they brought in Devenski if we do need another long relief appearance. Plus after today they will be indoors in Milwaukee and then back in Houston so they should be able to get through this game with the bullpen in decent shape.
Based on how the 'future' radar looks, they should be able to play a while (2-3 hours) before any new threat of rain capable of stopping play.
