I hear you about the coaching and lack of smart coaching, I think possibly the majority of people on this forum knew that poor coaching was going to come back and haunt the team.

They team seems to play a freestyle type of basketball, where there is little structure to what they do as a team.

But with that being said, this team still plays hard for the most part from what I can see during the games. Even with no coach and a poor training camp, this team should be a solid seventh seed with no worries of falling out of the playoffs at the moment.

To be fair it was a shell of the roster that was actually healthy during the preseason. I don't know if McHale ever got any chance to see his actual rotations. The team basically went into the opener not having really played together since the WCF.

IMO this is mostly on the players though. No commitment to defense, entitlement, whatever it is...they were just not as hungry as they were last season.

Our downfall began by not resigning Jsmoove in the offseason. I think he would have maintained momentum had he stuck in Houston.

At least he tried with Lawson. Not trading Howard at the deadline did it for me. I am really hoping we go with a more traditional basketball mind at GM this offseason.

Truth for me is that I wouldn't care if we gave someone like JVG coach/front office control.

I heard him say this. Morey is delusional.

How has our PPG and offensive efficiency ranked under Morey?

It seems you don't get it or can follow along.

This. I think "systems" in the traditional sense are overrated. I don't think our organization intentionally made our "culture" not "winning", but it was a byproduct of letting the players have too much freedom.

It's underrated how the SAS and GSW leaders/superstars are the type of men who lead and create a culture of winning.

In the end, it is on the players in the context of the Rocket's seasons.

I thought he was saying our stats indicate we are as good as GSW when down? And on the flip side, the stats indicate we are more like Philly when up. That's what I "heard," which could be totally wrong though.

I think we expected a crowded PF battle to happen with TJones and DMo on top of Howard and Capela at the 5 spot.

I think you'd regret giving JVG a Doc Rivers role.

I think a lot of folks are having trouble with the context of the interview.

Finally, after game 78, Morey admits continuity didn't work.

Well... he is admitting that the roster as constructed isn't working.

We have a bunch of position-less players (more or less) who mostly are decent at several things but not very good at one or two particular things. This type of team is going to require a commitment to communication on the defensive end (tons of switching) and a commitment to movement (both the ball and players) on the offensive end.

This is a fabricated quote to show you what Morey could tell you with a straight face and maybe even believe it.

With regards to Brewer and continuity, sure I get it. But to lock him up for that much money, knowing how limited he was and he only has a handful of good games every season made little sense.

Yes, he admits to *us*. But he says they admitted to themselves earlier. In just the very next sentence that you highlighted he said they knew at the trade deadline that the group wasn't going to get it done.

"DM: There is still time but I agree, We have the same group as last year with very few on the wrong side of 30 but with the right preparation and approach, you think the team will get back to where it was last year. Around the trade deadline we said it wouldn't happen sow e made drastic changes to move Ty Lawson and get in Beasley. Obviously we still have time to turn this thing around but need concerted effort from myself all the way down to turn things around."

He also tried to move Howard at the trade deadline, because the continuity wasn't working. He didn't just realize that now, just because this is the first time he said as much on radio.

Morey, you have 1 good offensive player. Not "players."

You have a system, but it does not work or is not sustainable throughout a season and post season nor solid enough to work with multiple lineups.

Here is what I love about you DD, you and others fault Morey for treating players like assets. You all are on him in that he doesn't value chemistry. This season Morey fought to keep a team together, to not fire the coach and above all else preserve chemistry. So what is your first instinct? Blame him. Awesome.

qft. this should go for all the people that complain about the constant roster turnover.

Realized the people at 790 radio are as clueless as Jbb... Talking about how this roster doesn't have players to step up. The rockets do have players to step up, but it's hard to step up when you don't get playing time. Beasly only 22 minutes, Kj gets benched after a great start, Andrew Gouldlock gets benched. Terry and Brewer play 40 minutes. Rd not the roster it's the coach.

Brewer played 40 minutes last night? This coach sucks, but JVG is still supporting him. I would assume that JVG would play Brewer for 40 minutes, since he can play some kind of defense.

Brewer is just terrible, he has no business to shoot the ball if he has a chance to pass it to others.
