Thats your opinion. The franchise ,the fanbase ,the coach, and almost every neutral fan (except you) believes they have two. So whatever.
Jabari Parker, Greg Monroe and Khris Middleton is a decent core. I believe Parker can be a franchise player when he gets come continuity under his belt and builds confidence. Monroe isn't your conventional star but he's always good for 12 and 10 a night, they have a bright future, they just need to dump MCW's ass ASAP.
I think I might be in the minority here. But I think Hinkie has done pretty good job with the pieces he has been dealt. The Sixers are set up to have a great future but unfortunately as result of having so many assets the team is bad right now. Okafor, Noel, Embid could be good players. But one of those could be a great trade chip coupled with one of the many picks the Sixers are hoarding. He simply gathering all of his cards before actually playing poker. The worst place to be in the NBA is the middle of the pack. Purgatory, too bad to win and too good to get better(draft position). I don't miss those years when we were at the "#12 - 15" draft positions for it seemed like a eternity.
yea i thought it was a reasonable long term plan and hinkie was executing it fine. i think the nba just found it hard to sell to the customers in the present so they intervened for business reasons. not because the plan was going to fail or because hinkie was executing the plan poorly.
Hinkie has made mistakes. I listed most of them in my previous post (he also made a bad dumpcontract trade but it wasn't a serious mistake just a slight overpayment). The excuse that they expected Marshall to be ready for the season, or that he is their mentor vet is preposterous. Now NO GM is perfect. But when someone takes such a radical approach and is given that much freedom his mistakes are also put under the microscope and he has to pay the price.
Pretty ridiculous that they got rid of him just as his hoarding of assets was about to bear fruit. I bet people will think the new executives turned this thing around.
Hinkies an idiot who drafted/traded for a bunch of useless big men in a small ball jump shooting league
hinkie come back, any kind of fool could see, there was some loss in everything about you...hinkie come back, you can blame it all on morry, he was wrong, and he just can't tank without you
Right. Watch this team make the playoffs next season with this exact roster + their draft pick this summer + 1 vet signing >> which was going to happen anyway. Btw, Noel is not a useless big man (in fact, he is PERFECT for this NBA and has an unbelievable work ethic coupled with an already tremendous defensive game) and Embiid was the consensus #1 pick. Okafor, again, virtually no one - you included - thought there was going to be a gap between the futures of Okafor and Porzingis at that point. There's also a ton of picks left over (they pick #1, #23 and #27 this summer). The point is, people seem to have the idea that Hinkie was just going to tank for eternity. In reality they had setbacks with Noel and Embiid. Never drafted a bust. Chose an excellent excellent coach. This summer was going to be the turnaround. The new management is not going to do anything he wasn't going to do. He just took the heat for what's going to be their success.
I absolutely think the new mgmt will do things different than Hinkie but it won't be good for Philly fans. You are talking about bringing in a GM whose #1 draft pick at one time was Bargnani.... Who he extended with a near max contract. Oh and he traded for Rudy Gay, and let Bosh walk for nothing. We are talking about handing over a treasure chest of picks and young players to one of the worst GM's in NBA history. It's like giving a 5 year old a blow torch in a fire work store.... What can go wrong??? Also Josh Harris has to be upset about this. They never really wanted Colangelo to begin with but the NBA forced him on them. Then with all the power he comes in and immediately undermines their brain trust by going behind their backs to gift the GM job to his entitled brat of a son who again is one of the worst GM's in NBA history. I feel sorry for Philly fans. While they might find a way to stumble to 35 wins next year with Rudy Gay type of trades, they'll never get back to legitimate contending under BG. Should have never gave Jerry that much power that quick.
