Not trying to go D&D, but wtf??? Some of these cultures really need to pull the boots out of their arses.

Lionel Messi boots donation causes row in Egypt

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi's gesture to donate a pair of his boots to a Saudi television station for a charity auction has caused controversy in Egypt after a member of parliament and the federation president said the gift was insulting.

According to a report in Ahram Online, the Argentina striker agreed to a request from a journalist on the Saudi channel MBC Masr's show "Yes, I am famous," to donate a pair of his boots for charity auction. The channel mainly targets an Egyptian audience and the interview aired last weekend.

Egyptian Parliament member Said Hasasin said he was so offended by the gesture that he took off his shoes during his evening TV show and said he would donate them to Argentina, the report said.

"We [Egyptians] have never been humiliated during our seven thousand years of civilisation... I will hit you with the shoes, Messi," Hasasin said during his show as he took his shoe off and held it up on the air. "This is my shoe. I donate it to Argentina."

Egyptian Football Association official Azmy Megahed called in to the programme as well, saying: "Our poor don't need him. Work shoes for him."

"I am confused, if he intends to humiliate us, then I say he better put these shoes on his head and on the heads of the people supporting him. We don't need his shoes and we don't need charity from Jewish or Israeli people. Give your shoes to your country, Argentina is full of poverty" Megahed said, according to the report.

Such humiliation! I will take it upon myself to take in that humiliation and accept Messi's boots to ensure world peace.

Damn... Leicester is 7 points clear at the top of the table!

    Leicester 69
    Totenham 62
    Arsenal 58
    ManCity 54

    Their next games are:

    Sunderland (A)
    West Ham (H)
    Swansea (H)
    ManUtd (A)
    Everton (H)
    Chelsea (A)

They need to win 4 out of the next 6 games to ensure 1st place. Not the easiest of schedules, but very doable. If they win it, will this be more special than Dalglish's Blackburn in 1995? They came out of nowhere from the Championship and straight dominated the league, yet they're STILL not talked about enough.

Tottenham's last 6 games looks very winable with an easier schedule. But let's be real, everyone is rooting for Leicester.

I want Leicester to win because this is their only chance. Next year they'll have a completely different makeshift roster with all their top boys being picked off by bigger teams with cash. Besides, next year it's Liverpool's year :)

If he can bring 1 or 2 of his Juve players to Stamford Bridge... cray. Might as well crown them now. I think this year is a weak year for the PL. Next year might stay the same with no real challenger for the no.1 team.

    Rooting for Madrid vs Barca.

Don't know if Bayern has a chance against a powerhouse like Benfica.

I don't like the arrogance of players like Costa and to some extent Thiago. This can backfire. When it goes well, it's nice, but at this level, you get punished when you are not serious enough.

Bayern left a lot opportunities in the final minutes. Would've felt much better to enter the second leg with a two goal cushion. On the positive side, no away goal for Benfica. Defense looked a lot better with Javi in the middle.

Well, could have been worse, but could have been a lot better as well. No precision in front of goal at all. Some absurdly bad passes (Müller passing to Ribery who's about 5m offside - what the hell?), lazy turnovers (looking at you, Thiago), no creativity except for the first 15 minutes... The only really positive thing is that we didn't concede a goal, but we can certainly do much better than that.

True and often results in unnecessary turnovers, especially with Thiago. He's been in a slump recently, hope he improves in regards to consistency and safer passing.

Nearly 3:0, Real's defense is abysmal tonight. Hope Wolfsburg keep this up and score at least one more, would be huge going into the 2nd leg.

Wolfsburg really impressive tonight, dominated Real for 90min and displayed an extremely calm build-up play and barely any turnovers. Would've liked to see one more goal, but they still have a huge chance to advance and a goal at Bernabeu could seal the deal.
