Bernie would love to install just the kind of all powerful government that guarantees this kind of activity. Even if Bernie himself is a saint and has pure motives for socialism there will always be the next guy who just wants to control everything.

Amazing post, yeah - Hill taught Putin all she knows when she bumped off Vince Foster.

So it isn't possible to investigate Hillary (which actually has been done, and has not been ignored), and also at the same time look into documents that might incriminate Putin?

Have their been any complaints that the investigation into Hillary needs more resources devoted toward it?

I don't think you understand anything about what Sanders wants to do.

In some cases your right I don't understand. I have read some about him and I agree with him on a lot of things, a surprising number. The problem is, he believes that through more taxation and more government all our problems will be solved. He believes that the government is the right entity to take money from those that have it and redistribute it. This philosophy is 100% proven to be a failure by history.

No system of government has been proven to allow the common man to build himself up like capitalism.

Just read the bottom portion and you will see that every item is either a tax program or a social program. I do not trust our(or any) government to make good decisions with money and in fact I trust them to be wasteful and sloppy and corrupt in everything they do.

Makes you wonder why every developed nation in the world has that philosophy.

I wonder what's next, now that the President of Iceland is gone.

Perhaps the Premier of Greenland too! The hugeness keeps on huge-ing.

well, FIFA's president has been caught up, David Cameron's dad is as well, China is officially recoiling the f**k away and has gone apes**t censoring this, Putin will kill a few people--and the next bombshell is probably going be Le Monde implicating a major French political party for offshore accounts.

And this is merely the fourth largest firm in offshoring.

Even B-O joined the fun, asking for international tax reforms!

You wonder what else is lurking there.

So far, obstruction of justice, corruption, bribery, stealing/fraud, association with the Mafia/money laundering. but what else is new.

Hey, bonus points, this company is also tied up in Latin American corruption scandals that might bring down the Brazilian DILMA. +100 huge

Yeah maybe I'm missing something, but this isn't really blowing me away. It seems like it's more confirming corruption of people that we already knew were corrupt.

Eh, I'm not worried. I'm looking forward to excoriating any public officials or other citizens that are revealed to have broken the law or engaged in corrupt practices. Because one of the good things about being in a democracy is that all those peeps are expendable and the republic remains robust. If it's Obama, love you Obama but impeach his sorry ass and put him in prison. The country will be fine. Same for the European countries. Iceland's PM is a crook, fine. He has resigned and they'll get a new one. Maybe they can indict him for corruption, that'd be great. It's more of an existential threat in authoritarian countries like Russia or China. Maybe nothing will result because they will censor or oppress their way out of this mess. But, people will see what's up with their leaders. And, if they manage to change leadership, it'll change government too.

Speak for yourself buddy, I'm getting bigtime tips from this thing.

I hear Seth Bladder might be going down as head of the National Football Association.

if anyone finds any name in the papers, that "links" them. i think that is very dangerous precedent because offshore accounts and companies are not illegal. will take many years and experts to find and prove illegal activity. i don't like this "linked" terminology folks are using. it's very much guilty until proven innocent.

Yes, we should be careful about casting aspersions on people who may have done nothing wrong. You can't just see a link and stop. But, I think the early reporting has been acting responsibly. The Iceland PM wasn't just maintaining privacy; he was hiding an obvious conflict of interest by secretly owning shares in a bank that he was using taxpayer dollars to bail out. That's not just a 'link,' that's flat corruption. The Russian musician who happens to be Putin's good friend and somehow owns $2B in assets -- that's not a 'link' either, that's corruption. So, yeah be on your guard against people who want to make facile and unfair smears on rich people who happen to be linked, but also be ready to call corruption when you see it, because it's right there and it's a big problem in much of the world.

David Cameron, America's dearest friend in Britain, is facing pressure in Parliament over an undisclosed fund which never paid taxes in the UK owned by his father. He refuses to say whether this fund will benefit him and his family in the future.

It's a pretty ironic position to be in...

Even his own party is starting to turn on him.

Yes, everybody knows politicians of all stripes and kinds are corrupt in some way and are hypocrites, it's just delightful to see what the world does when 1/99 of the dirt is revealed. So far, it has been a very partial dump of the fourth largest offshore firm in the world. Dilma is most likely going to be impeached-- so that's 2 scalps to Panama already, and it's the first minute of the first quarter.

Attributing Dilma's impeachment to this is like attributing the current Rockets season to Andrew Goudelock.

more like attributing it to something directly causal.

And guess which law firm Cunha used?

    PANAMA don't give a f**k.

anyways, potential bigger scalps for the people who chose the fourth largest firm await--David Cameron, maybe Marine le Pen/Sarkozy or Hollande, and some 200 American citizens.

one can only hope that they didn't use the obscurity to commit any crimes, but given their choice of a firm that was so libertine about laws...mmm.

Thanks for that, excellent work from Wired as usual.

Summary for those not into reading:

This is the largest whistleblower leak ever. 2.6 terrabytes.
Through the International Consortium of Journalists, or ICIJ, more than 400 reporters have been secretly poring over this massive amount of data for over a year, amazingly without any significant leak until now.

The point is: Putin and the PM of Iceland are just the tip of the iceberg.
