I don't care about the stupid pick. We don't even play our top 2 picks from last draft. Playoffs here we come........GO ROCKETS!!!!!!!
This is our year. We have turned every corner on earth. We will make noise. Book it. Bloody deep noise.
This. (though I do like some of our players. Harden will always be the coolest and Beasley, KJ, Capela, and sometimes Bev are cool. I don't dislike dmo or Goudelock either. Harrell will one day hopefully be cool)
And this. Wow I love this thread now. Made me realize that there are a lot of posters that know what they're talking about. I use to think they were all delusional.
There is only one way the Rockets can win - by playing with extreme high intensity especially on the defensive end. This is not a very pretty offensive team. It is not stacked with great shooters. The idea that they can out-gun any of the top seeds is ridiculous. They have to outhustle teams. Harden is your only major scoring threat, followed by whom? Beasley? I think the offensive rating is very deceptive. We saw how they won on Sunday - it was through high-energy basketball. That should be their major focus - play high energy basketball for 48 minutes. If a guy isn't bringing, bring in the guy who will. Period. That has to become their mantra.
Beat a good team once ... think we can take them out without home court advantage in the playoffs. You don't hear the Celtics fans thinking they can take out the Warriors because they beat them once. The only thing consistent about the Rockets this seasons is that we've been mediocre, and the next game we win is when we have turned the corner.
Okay, I'll bite. I hope we will loose bad. Because I do not understand why people here get firefd up for one of the ugliest team in the NBA. Are you guys rooting that this travesty is going to win so we will be "awarded"with more unwatcheable garbage? We do not have to become the Spurs, but what we are being served the last years is an abomination. WCF be damned.... I want at least some semblance of teamplay and fluid combinations.
Let's me guess.......you come from the land of biscuits and tea, fish and chips, and Cider and pub grub.
So right! We definitely need to add someone who can score on this team. We can be really ugly to watch when guys don't penetrate, their outside game has gone stone cold, and they are too exhausted to run back across court. That is where our "interim" coach has failed us all season. He can't leave the guys in who aren't producing. If that happens.....well....it's won't be fun to watch.
I think its fair to say that, out of the lower seeds in the West, the Rockets have the most talent but have the most problems. Portland is the surprise team with a young star filled backcourt, but the rest of the players are young role players. Utah is the least talented team but they make up for it by playing a slower style, hustle plays and with defense. Dallas is similar to us. They have some talent, but not more so than ours and they also have their fair share of problems, particularly finishing games and trying to cover Dirk on defense. But they still have one of the best coaches in the NBA so they should be a factor. I think the Rockets, with the talent and play style will be looked at as the team most higher seeds don't really want to face in the 1st round, if we get there. Clippers know what's up come playoff time and I don't think they want to see in fear that they relapse and crumble. We've beaten the Thunder and every game was close against them. We are a team that can really hurt them since we convert turnovers to points very well. I still think Dwight Howard might be the key to beating the Spurs. Our athletic bigs are not matched against the Spurs and Harden is known for playing well against the Spurs. Of course LMA and Pop scare the hell out of me. The Warriors have owned us but games, particularly in the WCF, were a lot closer than people remember. Every loss except Game 3 came down to very last few minutes of play. Rocket will not be favored in any series they face but out of all the lower seeded teams, I think Houston is the most feared.
I doubt sixth. But wow. Do you see Memphis's final games? 1 clippers, 2 golden states a bulls and a mavs. No conley, no gasol. Mark up golden state as two losses. But they have lost three fewer than us and we don't appear to like gifts which is what our remaining schedule is.
Portland is gonna take sixth if they do not lose every game forward. They are not going down like the Grizz. Portland has almost the same record.
Deb, I like your optimism, but I highly doubt this team can get the 6th seed. I'm hoping they can even get the 7th seed. Not that I think they stand a chance against SA but I'm hopeful they can at least be competitive and maybe pull off 2 wins and save themselves the embarrassment of possibly getting swept by GS. I will say this though.. If the Rockets DO make the 6th seed, I will personally apologize to you for ever doubting and admit you were right. Sound good? lol
I am not looking to say "Told ya so" to anyone, and certainly don't expect anyone to say they admit I was right....haha. Hey, I understand people's frustration and doubts, but I just have more fun hoping for a miracle in the playoffs. I really do believe Portland will move to 5th spot and Memphis could possibly lose a few more, opening up the 6th spot. There is no reason other than pure lack of effort, lack of focus, and completely messed up rotations for us not to move into that spot with our schedule. I am not stupid, I know we have screwed it up consistently all year........but......we can be fun to watch when we play to our potential. GO ROCKETS!
No you're not stupid at all. I agree with you 100% If this team does play to it's potential, it'll be a fun playoff series to watch, regardless of who we play. Also, I want to believe in the Rockets SO bad! I honestly do, but I've been heart broken over and over again all season long. It's starting to get mentally exhausting even lol So, with that being said, I'll hope for the best...and watch the remaining games with my fingers crossed lol
Believe me brother, I feel know that pain, and yes, it is exhausting. I have been heartbroken over and over with this team, the Texans, and the Oilers. I think the difference right now is that if we lose I will be disappointed, but not heartbroken. I've seen us play so inconsistently all year long that I kind of see it coming. I really do think we are much better with Beasley though, and am hoping for some Clutch moments we can all cheer about.
He is a young coach. I think he hasn't figured it out. We do need another scorer, and we need some better flow on offense. But that won't happen this season. All we can do this season is play with freakish energy because we have a deep roster to throw at teams. And Harden is use to playing 45 minutes anyway. So it's harden and the 4 freshest guys.
Win or lose I will disappear, but at least I will see the first round, so hope we make the 6th seed. I don't want to watch Curry chewing on his mouth guard, or flopping San Antonio over and over. I doubt I see any of the rest of the playoffs because I will be in a time zone 6 hrs later than here........or 8 if we play a west coast team.
