If women are so delicate, why are they allowed in combat? I agree with you. Everyone agrees with your statement. I'm just saying everybody agrees with this yet most everybody is all for them being in combat. That's hypocritical to me. Totally off topic, I know.
That isn't how a union works. Its the same reason why police unions will never ever come out against an officer even if its painfully clear that the officer was wrong. A union that picks and chooses which members to defend isn't really a union anymore. Ultimately, as bad as the union looks, NFL teams can cut players for any reason. The union can't stop that and rather than demonize the union, I'd point the finger at the Cowboys and other NFL teams who are letting Hardy stick around. The guy should be blackballed from the league.
That would be collusion. Supposed he was black balled from league and he had no money who wins? The victim would still have gotten beat up, but since hardy is rich she probably got a nice settlement out of it. If he was broke he might be in jail and that girl gets nothing. I guess she gets justice, but justice doesn't pay the bills.
I saw an interview with Eric Winston last week, who is the current president of the NFLPA. He was clearly shaken up by this but he made it clear that it's the Union's job to protect the players. Like you said, they can't pick and choose. You could tell by the look on Winston's face that he hated having to defend Hardy...but it's his job. IMO, there are only 2 people deserving of ridicule right now. Hardy and Jerry Jones.
I think oakdogg should explain, because this makes no sense. It reads like, "since women are in the military, they can be beat on and it ain't no thing." Which is silly because women and men shouldn't be beat on. Neither is OK. If Greg Hardy beat the crap out of a dude it would also be bad. Arguably, it would be worse if he beat up some little dude who stood no chance of defending himself. So same for females.
What?? How is it hypocritical?? It's not like people are sitting around condoning men getting beat up, or abused. It's a basic human right.....not a privilege only afforded to those of us NOT in the military.
No, of course, women shouldn't be beat on. Really, nobody should be beat on, but esp. not women. I just find it odd that the world is so for women being in combat when they also recognize universally that women are more delicate. Everybody is so for equal rights and opportunity of the sexes (which I agree with in just about every other situation), they ignore nature. Men are much better suited to combat. Why go against nature? Sometimes, nature has a point. I know that's not what this thread is about. I just was reminded of that when looking through the thread and threw it out there.
So, women are just as tough as men and don't deserve any special treatment. Pick one or the other. I don't see how society can say both. I am clearly saying I believe women are more delicate and shouldn't be in combat. In fact, I'm not saying it - nature says it. Is it smart for a person to dedicate himself to outrunning a cheetah? Should a person try to wrestle a bear? Should Muggsy Bogues have dedicated himself to being a center? If you're born with inherent limitations, then work with what you got, don't require the military to change standards and all that stupid stuff.
[rquoter]ESPN will air a preview of Adam Schefter’s exclusive interview with NFL free agent Greg Hardy today (Monday) on NFL Live at 2 p.m. ET. The interview will air in its entirety on Tuesday’s NFL Live (2:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2). Schefter, one of ESPN’s top NFL Insiders, conducted the interview this morning in Oxford, Mississippi with Hardy, who played for the Dallas Cowboys in 2015 after sitting out the first four games last season as punishment for domestic violence. Topics discussed in the interview include Hardy’s domestic violence case, his 2015 season with the Cowboys, why he has yet to sign with a team this offseason, and how he is perceived throughout the NFL. Interview excerpt: Hardy: “I’ve never put my hand on ANY women … In my whole entire life, No Sir. That’s just not how we’re raised. As you can tell, like I said again, it’s the Bible belt. It’s just something that’s, I wouldn’t even say frowned upon, just something that’s nonexistent in most southern homes.” Schefter: “You say you did nothing wrong, you’re innocent and yet the pictures of her that surfaced would seem to suggest a woman who had some type of physical contact. How do you explain that?” Hardy: “I will stop you there and say that I didn’t say that I didn’t do anything wrong. That situation occurred and that situation was handled but … saying that I did nothing wrong is a stretch but saying I am innocent is correct. Yes sir.” Schefter: “Did you ever put your hands on her?” Hardy: “No Sir … No Sir.” http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-r...chefters-exclusive-interview-with-greg-hardy/[/rquoter]
Did Greg Hardy just imply that women are not physically abused in the South? No question in my mind that Hardy is a complete POS.
So down South no one puts their hands on women, yet clearly the woman in the case was abused somehow and the "situation occurred" and "was handled" but he never put his hands on her? Is he trying to say, circumvently, that someone else hit her and he helped cover it up? In total agreement, juicy. The guy is worthless and I hope he never sees another down in the NFL.
