I didn't get the vibe that Eugene spilled the beans. It did feel like the Saviors had drones and GPS tracking on the RV to coordinate their over the top cat and mouse game. Why doesn't Rick's team ever drive multiple cars? No, let's rely on that beat up RV and follow the Savior Waze app.
This part I definitely agree with. We've seen from GoT that actor-related mysteries don't stay secret over months between seasons
I thought it was a great season and an OK finale, I think they should have showed who got killed. Not sure if Eugene gave up the plan or not but they seemed to be one step ahead of Rick`s team at all times especially in the woods.
Maybe it actually is Maggie. And Negan explains to them that every pregnant woman the group has had died, and he needs to preserve the fighters for the good of the new world order. Saviors are strong. That would actually make sense for his character, whereas Rick's group often tries to save the sick and weak to their own demise. Also, Lauren Cohan (Maggie) seems like the one whose career might get busy.
I agree...they should have just shown someone getting their brains bashed in by lucille. Like GoT when oberyns head exploded...that was shock value. They should have went all in. This better pay off next season.
Don't be so sure. I wouldn't be surprised if next season starts as a smashup of flashbacks, Negan background filler, Morgan/Carol development, scenes of Rick's group dealing with current circumstances, etc. while dragging out the reveal of what really happened in that scene until the mid-season finale. Imagine each episode kind of giving you a reveal of someone who DIDN'T die without revealing who it was. Maybe using that survivors sadness/struggle to tease that it was someone connected to them until the reveal of their lover/kid/etc. as alive. An episode where Abraham struggles in his scenes with deep sadness and guilt. Halfway through he talks to Eugene so you think man, maybe Sasha and then at the end he meets her and she assures him there was nothing he could do. They could play that game with Rick (Michonne, Carl) Abraham (Sasha, Eugene, Rosita) and Maggie/Glenn/Aaron (some devotion to her apparently) and drag that out for multiple episodes. Enough other things to fill in with. Part of an episode is Rick and a small team struggling giving supplies over with a reminder of what happened to their friend, jumps to a flashback, we get some exploration of Negan's past, jumps to a survivor struggling teasing it is their person dead, jump Morgan/Carol, etc. The tension will be so high with this that it's reasonable that they aren't just all buddy buddy talking about stuff next season anymore, lots of doubts in Rick, etc. No matter what though, no matter who was killed, that person will likely be filming episodes next season to fill out flashbacks and what not.
Well... They haven't exactly said yet... But speculation is yes. I'm hoping they get back in sync with comic, I mean obviously it'll never be quite in-line since non comic chars (which I'm fine with), I'd just like them to make it more in the sense that any char can die. Technically in the last 2-3 episodes if they were following the comic... Another important char would have died too. I think that while they're trying to appease fans by keeping them all alive, it's cheapening the concern of losing anyone. Like instead of an important character they just throw in randoms, or select a less important one. Also... Eugene didn't give **** up on the plan... It's more to do with the fact rick highly underestimated the Saviors. Also, No spoilers (unless you click it) but did you notice how Morgan didn't quite run into the Hilltop crew (at least it appears that way)?? Spoiler Most likely he ran into another group called the Kingdom. This will show how little Rick's group knows on the area. And also how much more interesting it'll become
Also think Aaron makes sense because if they showed it, nobody would GAF that it was him. Using it as a cliffhanger makes it last.
There's no way it's a woman. They will not show (or even imply that it happened off screen) a man beating a woman (a pregnant one to boot) with a barbed wire bat on non-premium cable TV. The big deal with Negan is that he is strangely likable and beating a pregnant woman to death will kill any chance of that.
That's where I feel JDM is missing the mark with the character. Isn't Negan supposed to be a roided up biker dude with a man-child disposition? He's supposed to be likable as a plot device/antagonist, but not as a person/character. He's playing the character as too charming/smooth, like the Governor. Needs more meathead douchery going on. Edit - Also 24 episodes since a pre-Terminus character has died. Lulz.
Yeah, I get it. That why I said, "maybe, still." They just explain she was dead anyway...that they've seen several pregnant women from their large group, and they always die...they say the fever was the onset of it. But yeah, it's seems unlikely to your point, because the show is lame this way. Lame that we have to defend Maggie not getting offed because she's a woman...despite being a serial killer, as Negan would say. As for is it a reasonable plot line if we set aside TV Audience uproar points against it: of course it is. A comic book would do it. It doesn't kill any chance of seeing Negan as a practical, survival of the fittest dictator. imo, killing most of them make sense from a Rick's group perspective. But from a Negan perspective...I feel he'd off the soon-to-turn pregnant woman as mercy and pragmatic reason....and to shock the hope out of the group...as dictators so often do. To me, it doesn't make sense to off the strongest. Look around at his group...all freaking big guys. .
More soap opera cliffhanger tricks to keep the audience watching. Shouldn't be shocked. TWD is a show that survives by internet chatter, spoilers, etc. This is such a Walking Dead move that its almost a parity of itself. But all in all it was a really good episode until the last scene where they didn't exactly know how to pace the scene, and they again show their lack of quality filmaking skills to know how to use tension, and suspense. The Negan scene was botched mostly by the filmaking. JDM is a fine Negan. He has the look, the acting chops, and we saw some really great moments in that scene but the writing.. OMG it was terrible. The kept him going on about pissing your pants, etc. it just didn't sound like a character talking like they normally would in this scenario. It sounded like they took an R Rated movie scene with lots of F bombs, and this was the edited cut B -roll on the deleted scene section of the DVD. Also the person who got killed...... who cares at this point? The show has done such a terrible job of making the audience feel "NO Not Him or Her". To have this kind of effect it would need to be Rick, Jesus (one of the best characters thus far presented & sure to be underused), or Negan himself. The show needs to weed out characters anyways. You shouldn't want to lose characters not because you don't like them, but because they have something they needed to do that was derailed. The thing that made the Jon Snow or Ned Stark "situations" that powerful for GOT is that you felt like that character was on their way to something great, or you were rooting for them to do something great in the next few episodes. Who are we rooting for to do anything great in the coming episodes? Who has the most to lose by dying? I personally don't think he is the one, but I think Rick should have been the one to get the bat. Put all these players on an even keel like GOT did (Carol, Daryl, Morgan, Maggie, and why the hell not Negan, etc.) and let's sort out who is going to step up in this situation. The whole story now is how does Rick defeat Negan. I find that boring as hell to have to sort through for 2 more seasons. Lets kill Rick, divide the group, and things spin out of control. Carol & Morgan can go off and live with that group with the lazer tag armor. Some folks can go with Jesus' group, and burn down Whisteria Lane (Alexandria). Now the show is getting interesting.
Yeah, but you don't get the vibe he would be the kind of dude that doesn't re-rack his weights or drives a jacked up truck with a Calvin pissing sticker on the back. He looks like just some regular schmo wearing a black leather jacket.
I actually thought this season was one of the better seasons in a long while but that finale was just bad. It was like the world's most boring interpretation of Fury Road.......if Negan's entrance hadn't been telegraphed as much as it was there might have been a bit more surprise and jolt to it. Then to do the cliffhanger, which I assumed would happen, is just bad writing....
But I think the character they killed in the comics is still the one they go with in the end. They aren't going to kill off a secondary character because it won't mean much in the grand scheme, and they won't kill off a major like Rick because they don't have the balls. Its Glen guys.... which makes it completely STUPID that they would cliffhanger it.
