The doubters are going to all start jumping on the bandwagon when we make the 6th seed going into the playoffs. We will be 6th seed, and just like I said before...... I believe we are a better team than last year going into the playoffs. We are going to pull some upsets nobody saw coming. Go Rockets!
So glad we beat OKC! They really don't want to face us in the first round! Thank god the opponents the Rockets face here on out to close the season and clinch a playoff spot are filled with subpar talent. Thank goodness we take care of business against those poor teams. Those wins against the Nuggets and Nets at the start of the year are huge for us now in the W column!!!!!!!
While I appreciate the optimism, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Call me a "doubter" if you want- if the playoffs ended today we wouldn't be the 6th seed playing OKC. We would be the 9th seed out of the playoffs completely and keeping our first round pick. I still think we will make the playoffs, but let's not get ahead of ourselves and say that we will make the 6th seed and upset OKC in the first round. One game, and hopefully one win, at a time.
This thread is a joke right? Was that okc game the first one you've watched all year? While the rest of the schedule seems relatively easy, I wouldn't put it past this team to screw it up. We can't just ignore this abomination of a season after one good game. At best we get the 7th seed and get stomped out.
The doubters and bandwagon fans I was referring to are the ones who have said over and over how this team is horrible, and we would rather see us lose than get a draft pick. Being afraid to be too optimistic is different. That comes with being a fan of Houston teams in general for years of disappointment.
Please...people like you post all these "I believe" posts and "haters gonna hate" but once the Rockets disappoint you disappear. Having said that I shouldn't get mad. We support the same team. I wish I had such a positive way of looking at things, albeit not a realistic view.
Blazers have 2 fewer losses than us, with games @SAC, OKC, MIN, and DEN left. Do we own the tiebreaker? Seems like a very small chance of actually getting the 6 seed.
Deb, the truth is the team is not that good. We have beaten good teams this season, but our record against good teams is still abysmal. There are worse teams than us with better records against playoff teams. We're not good at home, and we're not particularly good on the road. That doesn't mean it We are no more likely to beat the 3rd seed than anyone else ever. At least when we got out ring, we had the best player in the series. We don't have the best player in the series against OKC. We are highly unlikely to beat GSW or SAS, two historically great teams. In fact, OKC's second best player is better than any Rocket aside from Harden in the last 10 years. We have put a decent streak together the whole season. What's our longest winning streak? We won 5 games in a row once I believe. I'll always root for my team, but there's absolutely no indication that anything other than a loss will take place. We're probably better than you're average 7th or 8th seed, because Harden is amazing. Equally important is: I support the team. I'm a Rockets fan. I don't like these players. It's not unconditional fandom from me. It's conditional on the players respecting the fans with their work ethic, production and commitment to winning. As far as I'm concerned, these players have given us the middle finger all season long with their childish bickering, idiotic whining on the court and most important of all lacklustre effort on the court. They're not going to win me back with a hard fought playoff series, and I'm sure lots of people are with me. I want the Rockets to win. I have no reason to believe they can, so I won't delude myself. I'll just support the red and white. If these guys win, it doesn't vindicate anyone. It doesn't make anyone a marvellous prediction of future results. It would simply be a miracle with no signs beforehand to predict otherwise. You want to bank on it, feel free. But don't come back here with an "I told you so" attitude if these guys win, and also don't sit here and insult fans who are down on a team that has taken a dump on their hopes and pocketed their cash all season long. It makes total sense to be doubtful of our chances, and happy if we win. There's nothing wrong with that.
Good thing we are playing a game of one on one sprinkled with a little bit of history HORSE and other players don't matter.
