Thanks for the breakdown! Cap is supposed to jump to $110 million in 2017, correct? So in this fantasy world, we'd have $15-18 million to use on another star (even more if we move Ariza or Bev), even with Goudelock, Beasley, and Howard cap holds.
Apparently both Harden and Durant are ruled out for tomorrow's game. Conspiracy? Will they secretly be plotting KD's move to Houston this summer during their surprise day off?
I don't believe Harden has been ruled out. In fact it sounds like he will be playing. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">James Harden questionable for Tuesday's game at Thunder, to test sprained ankle at shootaround <a href="https://t.co/MDOInfLzUl">https://t.co/MDOInfLzUl</a> via <a href="https://twitter.com/HoustonChron">@houstonchron</a></p>— Jonathan Feigen (@Jonathan_Feigen) <a href="https://twitter.com/Jonathan_Feigen/status/712000287729254401">March 21, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
To be honest, the math makes sense, but not sure the investment is a good one for Houston?? I am 50/50 on even wanting Dwight playing ahead of Clint right now....
I've asked this multiple times but have never gotten a answer in return. Isn't there a cap on how much of a raise % a player can make from their previous contract? I've read a few times that there is, which would make signing a minimum contract, and then resigning to a max impossible.
If we get Durant do we dump Ariza too? Yeah it would be nice to have him coming off the bench, but what about really starting from scratch with only small contracts? If we can somehow dump Brewer, we don't keep Dwight and Ariza, we could start with a clean slate of just Harden, Bev, Beasley, Goudelock, Capela, Harrell, KJ. All those contracts are tiny except for Harden and Bev (who still gets paid little). And all those guys by next season could be in the rotation, so throw in Durant and another max free agent and sign one more solid contributor.
It's gonna cost us a pick... But the nba salary floor has to be met and the cap will go up.. Won't be as tough as some are making it out to be
