warriors just an insane combination of skill, clutch, health, and luck. the things they can't control, like mack missing a free throw, go their way, and then even when they finally miss a big shot, they just grab the rebound and make it anyway. this is basically an impossible to repeat season. start of the season streak record, home winning streak record, 41-0 home season, 73+ win record, insane clutch shots/sequences all over the place, steph curry out of his mind all year, no injuries to best 3 players. this basically is just lightning in a bottle for a team that would be a high-60's win total, one of the better teams ever kinda team even without it. and to think, brook lopez might have been able to stop it all in game 12 if he makes a 2 foot tip-in.
To those celebrating GS ---- would you want a player to come along who was better than Hakeem? Better post moves, better defense, quadruple-double machine? Personally, the only way I'd want that is if... Spoiler ... they did it for Houston. Would be awesome to witness, regardless of team, but I wouldn't cheer for it unless it was for Houston. Would you cheer for GS if it was the Mavericks or Jazz?

If somebody is better than Hakeem so be it. Good for them. No matter what the team. That means he's probably a fun player to watch. If it was Dallas or the Jazz doing what the Warriors were doing so be it also. Records were meant to be broken. There are no real rivalries in the NBA. Only on message boards. Harden doesn't give a crap about Stockton hitting the shot in 1997.
The first point you made about a singular player is really selfish, speaking as a basketball fan. One team can't always have the best player; if that kind of parity exists, fans would decrease year to year. If you have that mentality for an entire team, there'd be no reason to watch the NBA if your team doesn't have a realistic shot of winning the title then, by that logic.
I agree with everything except health...they've dealt with plenty of injuries this year. Barnes was gone for a big chunk of time, Curry missed a few games, Thompson missed a few games, Ezeli's been out a long time, Iguodala's been out a long time, Bogut's missed a fair amount of time. The Warriors had amazing health last season, but this season the only luck has been an absence of the very worst luck...losing Curry for most/all of the season. But no top tier team lost their best player like that.
Saying that is saying the NBA can't be popular unless its greatest player is currently playing. No, it's saying I don't really cheer for other teams to do ground-breaking things. I can respect feats happening and they can be great to witness, but I just don't really cheer for it unless it's my squad. I definitely wouldn't cheer for DAL or SA to do anything earth-shattering.
To clarify the above, the only health luck, I mean. They've definitely had good luck in game situations. You probably have to in order to win 70+.
If we go generate a superior version of Hakeem it would be: Instead of 70% from the FT line you get 80%+ Instead of jump hook you improve to a sky hook Then you extend his range from 2Pt to 3Pt range  If I'm wishing for this player to exist I might as well wish it rained gold and unicorns.
Maybe so but I"m about to drop some high level maths on you, boy, so avert your eyes and ready your finest "CAN'T WIN WITH A SPREADSHEET POCKET PROTECTOR" Derptastic comeback. last year the Rockets were 2 in the West, GS was 1st This year's Rockets are 7-9th in the West, depending on the hour, GS is 1st. Last year's rockets won 12 fewer games than Golden state, or roughly 12% fewer, this year's rockets have won 31 fewer games, and counting, at 40% fewer Last year's Harden split the MVP awards with Curry, arguably should have been it (you may not remember this, you were busy following Paul George's rehab), this year Curry is putting up an all-millennium caliber season, in which his only competition is Wilt, Michael, LeBron etc. This year's ocean is roughly 3x the size of last year's ocean. Of course, Paul George still sucks, so there's a silver lining.
Exactly^^ The Pacific Ocean has, at minimum, 2x the volume of any other ocean on Earth. The smallest ocean, the Arctic, has over 30x less volume than the Pacific. So, the Pacific beasts the Artic over 10x more than the Warriors beasts Houston... but they are both oceans. Enjoy your hard-on while watching Curry and Co!!
