    From CBS Houston:

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt played four games last year with a broken hand and a club/cast of some sort. The three-time defensive player of the year said on Wednesday on The Triple Threat with Sean Pendergast, Rich Lord and Ted Johnson on SportsRadio 610 that he played some time with a herniated disk in his back as well.

“Last year, was definitely by far the most strenuous on my body that I’ve ever had, fighting through a bunch of things that I’ve never dealt with before,” Watt told the Triple Threat. “We had the broken hand. I had a herniated disk in my back halfway through the year. I had, obviously, everything that went on with my groins and I don’t think everyone fully understand what that proccess was like.”

Incredible that he was able to win DPOY with those injuries. I suspect Clowney would have been sidelined with less than half of that...

Professional athletes should be allowed to take HGH. Silly they can't. Helps them recover.

"Herniated disk" is a very non-descript term for a condition that can be completely asymptomatic to debilitatingly painful.

I herniated a disk in my lower back last year. I was trying to change a tire and felt the disk give way and poke out the side of my spine. For about a month and a half I had massive sciatic nerve pain - what they call 'refered pain', because the pain is in a different location from the injury. The entire inside of my right leg was totally numb, there was intense pain radiating back and forth between my knee and hip depending on the day, and I fell on my face 3 or 4 times because there was no strength in my quadricep. I was limping so badly that almost every day someone would ask if I was alright or needed help.

On the other hand, my understanding is that often in the mid/upper back you only have a little localized tingling or even don't realize the disk is injured without an MRI because there is no pain.

Not casting aspersions on Watt's character - I don't think he's trying to deceive anyone - but simply saying "herniated disk" isn't very descriptive.

I believe you can see Andre's head in the back right. Just barely.

    Edit:NVM reading comprehension.

Apparently he was also playing with 5 torn muscles. Pretty impressive. Makes those jokers who were gossiping about him like a bunch of 14 year old girls (if the story is true) look bad.

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/15104588/houston-texans-de-jj-watt-played-5-torn-core-muscles

"HOUSTON -- It's been termed a "groin" injury, but the full truth about the injury that ended reigning defensive player of the year J.J. Watt's 2015 season a quarter-and-a-half early is much more complicated.

By season's end, Watt had five partially or fully torn muscles in his core area, necessitating surgical repair on both sides of his body.

According to a source, Watt had partially torn left and right abdominals and a partially torn right adductor longus. He also had a fully torn left adductor longus and a fully torn left adductor pectineus..."

Yeah.... I don't see how anyone can question Watt's heart or pain tolerance.

I remember before last offseason when Watt posted the picture of that leg bruises when he was holding his longus in his hand.

Meanwhile, Clowney misses half a season because someone sneezed on him too hard.

....that's not good. Hope he has a good recovery. Those are all serious injuries but he's a fighter.

    Stop overusing Watt.

And that means no more offensive plays

The PDs... Pick 6's... QBHits.... TFLs... TD catches.... the versatility... the "only player ever" feats

Dude is Olajuwon on a football field

    OLAJUWATT

We saw this defense without JJ in the postseason...... 0 TDs vs ALL KC's offensive TDs

Why isn't Whataburger capitalizing on this golden opportunity?

Worried his career might prematurely end. Herniated disc is pretty serious.
