I feel like every time I'm watching Neshek, he's always struggling.

There is NO WAY Gomez is better defensively than Marisnick.

He isn't, but supposedly he once was. He's missing something between the ears.

Well, this game went from 0-100 real quick.

Hoyt had a real chance on making the team but today's game will say otherwise. He was inconsistent with his slider and just did not pitch good at all.

Neshek, he did not pitch that bad but Gomez really killed him with his defense, or lack of it.

Yes he did, last spot in bullpen is between Hoyt and Wandy.

Hoyt was impressive with few hits allowed and 2 k's per 9 inning.

We need more power arms in the bullpen.

In the past we've carried a lot of bullpen help, and with Feldman and Fister in our rotation, we may need a lot of innings from that bullpen.

Duffy has struggled a lot so that 25th men is not a sure thing, decision for the club is one extra bullpen help or another 1b/3b player in Duffy.

Duffy hitting .178 in ST, and Hoyt before today's game pitched 9 2/3 innings, 18 K's and 4 hits allowed.

That is still a question for the team, going with 13 pitchers or 12.

Nope.... Felix with the inside track more-so than those two, according to Hinch (mainly due to 40 man considerations).

    Nice try, though.

I don't think so, as Feliz is going to start in the minors. And after losing Apel, Velasquez and Straily, next on for a starting rotation is Feliz.

He is going to the minors to be a starter.

Let's not forget Neshek's struggles last year...

Didn't you just say they need power arms in the bullpen? All I'm doing is repeating what Hinch has said... the fact that Feliz is already on the 40 man roster makes it easier.

Who cares about starters for the minors?

Though he struggled in the final two months, his year wasn't as bad as we make it out to be (trust me, I hated seeing him on the mound). In a tiny sample size of 76 PA against Pat from August to season's end, opponents had a .400+ BAbip against the guy. No way that keeps up. I feel comfortable having him as part of the 6th/7th inning rotation with Harris/Sipp.

And hey... someone has to pitch in our losses. Much better than having to REALLY depend on this guy for the bullpen to have success.

Not following the whole discussion, but is the answer to the last question "People that want their team to develop starters for the majors"?

Correct, they want him to develop him more as a starter than reliever.

Some people believe he will be a reliever in the future, but the organization still think he can be a starter.

If we had Velazquez and Appel, then the organization could see Feliz as future reliever, but we lost a lot of starters in trades, and Feliz is now seen more as a starter for the near future especially if Fister continues to struggle and Feldman gets injured.

Do you honestly believe that relieving to start careers in the majors eliminates the chances of being a future starter? I see plenty of successful starters who started their big league careers in the bullpen as I do starters that were promoted as minor league guys.

I'd also say contending teams need to maximize 40 man talent on the big league roster.
