If Alexander wanted him fired, he would be fired by now. Both are under one blanket.... The only way Morey is going to resign or be fired is when fans are rioting and Alexander has no choice.
Watching the Spurs or Warriors drum us into the ground is not going to be better than a top 15 player in the draft. This season has been a complete failure maybe a draft pick will give us something to look towards.
This team is destined to get swept by the Warriors or Spurs - let's face it, we all know that is what is coming. Can't wait until the first round is over and this horrible season is finally done. It will be fun to watch GS vs. SA though.
2015 #11 Myles Turner #12 Try Lyles #13 Devin Booker 2014 #13 Zach Lavine #16 Jusuf Nurkic 2013 #11 Michael Carter Williams #12 Steven Adams #14 Shabazz Muhammad #15 Giannia Antetokounmpo ^^ That's ^^ the point.
I have never "cheered" for this team to LOSE. BUT, I would be ok with them missing the playoffs this year IF it lead to some of the players taking it personally and coming out with fire and something to prove next year. That an firing up the execs to realize we need a coach that does more than rip off a few farts before he sits down at the interview table and spews junk about good effort and falling short. COACHING MATTERS. Just take a look down I-10.
I've been rooting for them to lose for a few weeks now. If I had any faith that this team could get to the 6th seed, then I'd be all for making the playoffs. I'd give them a puncher's chance against OKC in the first round. Hell, upsetting the Thunder might even help sell Durant on bolting for the Rockets(or he could just sign with Golden State and screw the entire league). But since the odds are far greater we'd wind up 7th or 8th, I'd much rather wind up in the lottery. A Top 14 pick is way better than a first round sweep. And missing the playoffs would also force Les to make wholesale changes which are badly needed. Could you imagine if the Rockets reached the postseason, put up a fight, and then JB was rewarded with an extension?
The 8th seed is the ultimate nightmare scenario for me. Getting punched in the face 4 times by GSW while they yuck it up....makes me angry just thinking about it. Anything but the 8th seed.
Besides the most likely sweep, each game would be bookended with the national media trashing us in the pre/post and halftime shows. As a plus it
What exactly are you "putting up with" if by your own admission, "you don't watch this team". Anyway, I voted playoffs. I want a chance at the GSW because I'm tired of that team owning us for the pass 2 years, and their fans acting like they've always been a perennial contender like SA. Besides it's not like this draft is very exciting this year especially at #14, which is where we would likely be drafting at if we miss the playoffs.
Yup. ESPN & the national media would love the 1) Golden State vs. 8) Houston matchup. They'd try to sell it at first as "Curry vs. Harden and the Western Conference Finals rematch!!!" but soon after the first blowout, they'd take turns trashing James, trashing Dwight, trashing Daryl, showing Harden no-defense vines/gifs.
I'd rather see if Harden can step it up for an entire series, even if we get smoked, than draft a late lottery pick that won't really help the team any time soon
7 games with Golden State, while totally gassing them out and eventually lose to SA in the WCF. We'll forever be remembered in documentaries for being that team contributing to the defending champ's decline.
Let me just put this spin on this conundrum- What's more important for this team - A. To get Harden back on track to being a MVP caliber player and staple for this team moving beyond this year? Further securing his legacy. or B. Putting this team back in a position to gather assets, mold, and rebuild the team around more talent or through free agency. I'm in on the "what's best for Harden" camp to successfully lead the team for a few more years. I'm not saying "whats best for Harden' like special treatment or being able to dictate anything off the court, etc. I'm talking about creating an environment for Harden which allows him to be successful. Some might say more discipline from a coach is what he needs sometimes too. So if we are looking at what's best for the Harden situation, does making the Playoffs vs. sitting this year out have ANY benefits EITHER WAY to producing an environment where Harden can again be put in a situation to be the MVP candidate he was last year?
Us fans still consider ourselves a target for free agents. But history shows free agents are not as fond of switching to teams who miss the playoffs (not counting NYK and LAL for their historically unique attraction to free agents). For instance, would even Ariza have signed with us if our 2014 year was as crappy a year as this one. A 12th pick does have value, obviously. But Beasley and Harden showing up in the playoffs also has value to free agency, imo. Imagine if Beasley has just one great performance vs SAS or GSW. Gives something extra for Morey to use (er spin) in negotiations, albeit not a tangible asset. And hell, if Capela has a showing equal or better than last playoffs, it increases his value. Maybe down 2 games, we showcase Goudelock, as well. Plus, DMo needs some playoff burn for us to measure him for resigning. I like to believe that there are possible small wins in playoff performances that can match the value of a 12th pick. But missing the playoffs can hurt us in free agency more than the regular season already has. I also just love seeing us in the playoffs no matter what. To see our resolve in the real season, even against horrible odds.
