Lawson has every right to say this and be disappointed with his time year

He waived the 2nd year of his contract potentially losing lots of $$$$ and came here to be frozen out by an incompetent coaching staff and a GM whose philosophy doesn't match Lawson's style of play

Yes Lawson could have been better but what do you expect him to do when he is out there standing in the corner spotting up when Harden has the ball and when Harden is off the court he is left to play with brickers like Corey and Capela with little off ball movement. Lawson has always been a creator who does well when teammates make cuts, come off screens etc. But in our stupid system, our players stay rooted to one position and demand the ball to jack up moar 3's

His failure is on 1. Coaching and wrong fit, 2. Ty Lawson himself and 3. Harden's reluctance to move off the ball, make cuts, come off screens etc

You acquire a play making PG, then you don't have a plan in how to integrate him properly.

This is 100% what I mean by us not finding players whose style fit together - we just toss in talent and roll the ball out.

    So poorly run.

The problem is that Lawson declined and wasn't a starting pg anymore, but when he moved to the bench his ego couldn't hack it and he played like he was depressed.

Now on the Pacers he's happy to just with another fresh start and even a bench role, and he's playing better, but not really any better than he was with the Rockets.

He just couldn't meet the Rockets needs to score and facilitate more in the half court.

It's the system that they employ, not the players not fitting with one another. They wanted a true point guard to become a stand and wait for the ball type player.

Give us a better coach with a different system. And this team will be better than what they are today.

So this man game declined within a year. Bwhahaha this dude isn't 35 yet so how in the world did his game decline so freaking fast?

We're not a half court team anyways.

This system is built around player accountability. I don't see our players holding themselves accountable. We need structure in the worst way right now, since our pieces cannot (for this season) do it themselves in a free flow type system, we need to implement something that they can follow. Harden is a great player, he's still young though and his head isn't always where it needs to be. Plug in a coach with a system that he has to follow or else bench him to let him learn his lesson and place, and I truly believe this will work wonders on our squad (whether they stay here or not).

definitely the system, but also our players couldn't finish nearly as well as what lawson had around him in denver. our scrubs simply couldn't make open 3's or convert at the rim a lot of the times that lawson was able to set them up

    What plan does Indiana have?

He's been mediocre there too to the point where 6 points is considered his best performance.

This team as a whole is unorganized. Lawson to short to just do what Harden does in terms of taking over all by himself he needs guys around him that can at least finish plays off. Pacers have structure and guys that finish consistently like Mahimi for example.

Also, just to laugh at DD one more time - Indiana's "plan to integrate Ty Lawson properly" was basically to halve his minutes from 22 in Houston, to 12 a game in Indiana.

See? You just have to integrate him properly - by not playing him.

2 years - his decline began last year. The stat forecast for him was very negative coming into this season. He's not getting any better and in fact will not find a revival in Indiana.

The guy will never start as an NBA pg ever again. For god sakes, he's backing up George Hill.

Yawn, he is just getting started in Indiana - the joke is on you, and your blind homerism in regards to an org with a failed plan.

We need a new approach this one is broken, and all Ostriches like Sam can't change that.

in the end, as much as JB is to blame so is Morey. Morey put JBB in a position to fail. I think JBB knows that he wasn't ready for the big show but when someone gives you an offer why turn it down.

The biggest bust of all acquisitions for the rockets. Even stromile swift and bonzi wells showed up to play. Guy checked out when he got sent to the bench.

There's plenty of examples of two ball dominant players working well together. Lawson had plenty of opportunities to be aggressive while he was here, both with and without Harden on the floor next to him. That is on him.

However, as soon as JB sent him to the bench, any chance of him "clicking" here was out the window.

See this is not true, because just having the ball is only half of the problem the other players that DON'T have it need to move off the ball set screens for teamates off the ball and get players free for the player with the ball to distribute it.

We stand around and watch the guy with the ball - it is 100% a broken system.

I don't disagree, that being said he still had plenty of opportunities especially early in the season. But yeah the coaching obviously is terrible.
