Yes, it's a very convenient position to be in. You never have to question your own ideology because when someone does something terrible in its name and motivated by it, you simply say that that instantly made that person someone outside the "club", and a "non-believer". That way, you can continue without self-reflection and feeling superior to "non-believers".

Which would be the reaction of any entity of humans. If I asked a Christian if they support the actions of the Westboro Baptist church, they too would take offense because they thought they earned the right to have at the very least that level of the benefit without the doubt.

For example. I don't personally know any member here, but I still give the benefit without the doubt that ATW is not a pedophile. If I assumed that ATW was a ****ty enough person to doubt that, I'm pretty sure he would be offended. So when someone asks a Muslim who vehemently is against ISIS, they would be offended if someone asks them if they support ISIS or if they condemn them. It's basically: " Do you even have to ask? You have that low of an opinion of me?"

I think you are missing the basic psychology behind it which I explain in the post above.

Everytime someone acknowledges a problem with Islam there you are chiming in with your passive aggressive comment.

Only when the debate devolves into vague platitudes with no nuance in regards to Muslims which it often does.

Do you want me to post the at least 100+ posts I dedicated to criticizing Muhammad? I can even reference ATW who is basically a more intelligent and less extreme(most of the time) version of you.

The news reports say this was an attack on a park. Sounds like it was an attack on a playground. They must have been oppressing to the Islamists, just like the people at the soccer game in Iraq the other day.

Muslims need to turn from Islamists like many whites turned from the KKK and white supremacy, in which it became apparent was more concerned with black subjugation than promotion of white values. However there seems to be data indicating that many Muslims are still sympathetic to these kinds of ideologies.

Faith is so incredibly dangerous, and I can't think of anything that can make good people evil in the way that religion can. One can only hope that Muslims eventually take their religious texts far less seriously, much like Christian folks in the US.

The reactions are not the same. You are making a mistake if you think that. There's a lot of mockery of Jesus Christ and Christians - the reactions are not the same as by Muslims when they perceive something as mockery or criticism or even questioning.

Muslims are not the problem, it's this radical Islam that is stuck in the past. But the issues with the west came about post-WWII when the US and UK cultivated fundamentalist groups as a hedge against the Soviets. You can trace all of these groups back to that. The fact is you have the right now saying that these extremists are the definition of Islam when the reality is that they were the fringe element of their societies that didn't wield the kind of power you see now.

Those who wish to demonize a billion people are only going to disenfranchise the very people who's help we need.

a lot of outcry from my pakistani friends, people over there seem to be outraged and there is a growing sentiment about rounding up all the clerics and throwing them in a ditch. I think people like bigtexxx like to talk big, they rarely condemn atrocities committed in this country---cowards like him should just abstain from morally relevant issues.

The people that committed this, the hate filled clerics, they all need to be rounded up and dragged on the streets dragged on the $hit of their donkeys as they trot along. The Malala attack seemed to have a big effect and open the eyes of people around the world and there, I hope that this causes serious action to be taken.

Whew. I came here wondering what some random right-wing asshat on Twitter might think of the tragedy, or no, not so much the attack as the exact semantics of some rushed state dept. condemnation of the attack.

Thanks, Commodore! Such a service you have provided.

Blowing up women and kids at a park...maybe one day all of this will stop, but I doubt it will be in our lifetime.

B-Bob thinks he's being "tolerant", but actually he's contributing to the problem by not acknowledging it.

Well some asshat liberal always mentions the crusade 10000 years ago but would never bring up the Christian Genocide happening right now in the middle east. And one of that asshat liberal is your president.
