Sounds just like something he'd tell someone when he was planning on conning them out of their money like with Trump University or any of his other failed business ventures where he scammed people out of money. Bernie Madoff probably told people that he was going to get greedy for them if they invested in his Ponzi scheme.....that's pretty much what Trump is and always has been.
Regardless of how you feel about Trump's character you got to admire his love for his country. I mean after getting attacked in his rallies and 100's of people calling for assassination the man could just walk out and say I don't need this. Live the rest of his life in his enormous mansion in Florida while playing golf in the afternoon but no he is sticking to what he promised the American people. Beautiful.

If he truly loved his country, he would say "I don't need this" or simply "I'm not capable of doing this" and he would walk away. Of course, he doesn't love his country, or anything other than himself. The man is a megalomaniac and this is an ego thing. He knows that legions of stupid people will defend him and he gets off on that kind of thing. He dupes stupid people for a living.
Even if there is a big of the Dunning–Kruger effect going on with Trump, it doesn't really help anything. All of those people who bought in to his cons in the past are still out money, and the country would still suffer if enough people were stupid enough to elect Trump. I mean, that's really what it comes down to. I guess it's better if he is just completely oblivious to his incompetence, but the results are the same.

There's a reason Trump doesn't talk about foreign policy... Half the nation would be up in pitchforks at 6$ a gallon and Trump would be out before he knew it.
Believe me, eff Saudi. I can't stand the country, its absolutely hypocritical for us to support a nation that brings in migrant workers as slaves, has a wahabi system in place to elevate the royal family to god status, treats every non saudi in a subhuman manner and numerous other transgressions on human rights. I moved there for a bit as a kid...the country is a giant ignorant **** hole. That being said, your average Joe is going to be a lot more upset if he can't even afford to drive to work. What Donald said doesn't make any sense, just like 90%+ of his claims.
Wasnt the same said about Saddam and Iraq? The US deposed Saddam and the liberals have since criticized this "mistake" stating Saddam kept the region in control. Are you suggesting we should do the same to the Saudi's?
No, I think you probably read my post wrong, I stated that we shouldn't do anything...at least not yet (my whole point of being disgusting but having our hands tied).
I'm glad you posted this, b/c I think this is the primary single thing that divides those who can support Trump from those who can't. If I saw it like you see it, I might be able to have more sympathy for his cause, but while you believe he's doing this purely from love of country, I see it differently. This seems like an entirely ego-driven, attention-craving thing to me. I could be right, or you could be right. But it's definitely a key point in whether one can get behind the guy.
You know it really doesn't matter if he truly loves this country or not...his history of running things is not very pretty, not sure why Trump supporters think if you let him run the country he'll make it better but nothing in his history says that.
