I meant playmaker as someone who can find teammates. Sorry I didn't clear that up. He is very much a playmaker for himself, but if the shots don't fall, Then what?
He even prefers dribbling once before shooting, which is very interesting, and his layups are smooth, his spin moves are smooth, the only unproven quality is his 3 pointer, which doesn't bother me one bit if he shoots twos this efficiently.
What's surprising me is how efficient he has been more times than not this season, so far. 9/12 tonight, woah. Usually, I am already accustomed to Beas scoring points that match his shot attempts. He'd score 10 but with 10 FGA. He'd score 15 but with 15 FGA. But he is what he is, he's a volume scorer. Some people hate those type of people and find it "selfish" or "black hole" ball, but that's what a microwave scorer's main purpose is, and that's Beas. He will continue to frustrate you with those long 2's, stepping on the line for no reason when it could've been counted as 3's, but that's been an issue for years now. I don't know if you noticed this, but he likes to fake a 3 then step in 2 steps to take a midrange J. And usually, he's money with that move. He continues to try hard defensively and that's what matters. There's still those questionable decisions on D and I don't know if that's the team scheme or himself, maybe certainly a mix of both...but at this point you gotta live with it. That's not Beas strength so that would be a bonus if he could give good D. Average D would be more realistic. Again, man to man he is alright. It's the team rotations on D is what I think he struggles at.
We should let beasley have all the shots and forget about mr almost a quardruple double with 10 turnover haren.
Definitely strange. The line up he has played with the most before yesterday's raptors game was Bev-Harden-Trev-Beas-DH with a combined 33:08 minutes yet per 100 possessions that line up is being outscored by 41.7 points. That's abysmal. After that he's played a combined 14:22 minutes with Bev-Terry-Brew-Beas-D12 and they're being outscored an even worse 46 points. It gets much better with the third most used line up Beasley is in. Terry-James-Trev-Beas-Capela only get outscored by 17.4 points per 100 possessions. They have played a combined 13:16 minutes before the Toronto game. This all shows that no matter how much buckets he gets, the Rockets are still be greatly outscored per 100 possessions. The fifth most used line up Beasley has played in looks great though. Outscoring the opponent by 39.3 points per 100 possessions. Line up? Glock-KJ-Beas-Harrell-Capela. Makes even more sense when you see that they played exactly 12 minutes together. It was that 4th quarter line up during that one blow out game. Looking at 2 man/3 man/4 man combinations the only thing I can see is that he is absolutely abysmal when playing next to Dwight. In 89:57 minutes played with Dwight the team is being outscored by 39.8 points. In the 111.53 minutes played with James it greatly decreased to being outscored by 16.1 points per 100. His best line ups are typically with Terry, James, Clint, and Capela. Trev, Beverley, and Dwight. His on-off is bad. When he is on the floor the other team scores a lot more than they would when he's not on the floor. I still believe that Beas is somewhat fool's gold at the moment, but he is strangely enough what the Rockets need at the moment. Lou Williams, JR Smith, Jamal Crawford. That type of role. I think he can take it on, and be even better with the right coach despite what the numbers say.
Interesting to note that Beasley's useage while playing with Harden is 25.1% and his usage without Harden is an astronomical 41.5%. Likewise, Harden's usage when playing with Beasley is 36.8% and Harden's usage with Beasley on the bench is 30.5%. So Harden can have an even higher usage than normal and Beasley is still able to have a usage over 25%? That just shows that there are indeed plenty of possession to go around. As a comparision, Ty Lawson's career high usage was 22.7% yet people people still contend that he was ineffective here due to not being able to get enough possessions due to Harden. The issue has never been about too few possessions, the problem has really been a case of who uses those possessions.
Yes, Beasley and Dwight do not mesh at all by playing the 4 and 5 respectively together. That is not Dwight's fault though. While Beasley has multiple line ups where the team is being massively outscored, Dwight has played in more line ups and more minutes with others where the team isn't abysmal. Dwight's top 10 line ups do not include Beasley because Beasley is fairly new. The worse line up Dwight has been in that has registered enough minutes to crack the top 10 is Bev-James-Trev-Jones-D12 and that line up is being outscored by 20.8 points per 100. That is the 5th most used line up Dwight has been in. I think we can all deduct the reason why that line up is terrible and it's not Dwight. In the top most used line ups Dwight has played in the team is being outscored in 4 of them. Three of them including Terrence Jones. Still, perhaps Dwight has been playing much worse since the arrival of Beasley but this isn't a blame Howard thread. There are other threads for that.
He can play a Jamal Crawford instant offense role. Hopefullh over tjme he proves he can not only score, but also help a team win. Unlike David Lee who has put up good scoring and rebounding jn limit minutes, but hasnt helped the Maverixks one lick.
David Lee the savior? You're kidding, man. That team is only standing because of Rick. Other than that the Mavericks are filled with broken or old goods. David Lee would actually be a somewhat decent back up on a team if they had a good supporting cast. Besides what does David Lee have to do anything with Beasley?
Be easy beast and buckets Beasley. It's a long nickname but it works lol... I was wrong. I was thinking we just picked up another left handed tweener forward with some skills and some holes in his game. Now it's looking like we picked up a piece for the future... I love the long 2 pt shots when they go in. If that's his money shot, stack the damn cheese. If any of their average jump shooters would make more by stepping in, screw all this analytic 3 pt shot ball. Make buckets. This team has missed someone who just makes buckets outside of the harden umbrella.
David Lee is an example of how someone can put up monster stats, but not help a team win games. He's averaging 10/8 in less than 20 minutes a game shooting 64%. That's ridiculous, but the mavs have been on a horrible slide since his arrival. He's put up crazy stats for years now, but very few people are clamoring for him..
