OK guys - hear me out. We've had a lot of good success signing under-the-radar guys who are out of the league, like Goudelock and Beasley. Last year, we saw the chemistry that two former teammates like Smith and Dwight could have. What if we put those things together and signed Luther Head and Brian Cook? These are the unheralded moves that build dynasties.
I usually defend Howard but **** it I'm over it Bev/goudlock Harden/Kj Durant/ariza Beasley/harrel Capella/Dmo I like the idea of white side. Try to sign another pg again, Conley would be dope or try to get Kyrie
big pipe dream trad ei thought of that will make all teams involved better. since its the offseason i cant put down everything but these are the main players involved -rockets kyrie, jr smith or iman, beal -cavs harden, brewer -wizards love untouchables for rockets - dwight, dmo, beasley, bev, ariza. if we had to add another rotation player i'd do an s&t with dudley and send out kj and dekker. i dont wanna trade any of the bigs cuz there's too much potential there. it can be an elite 4/5 rotation if used properly and if dmo, dwight and beasley pan out wiz and cavs can work out trades among themselves. i dunno who'd they want from each other. maybe iman for morris? kyrie/ bev beal/ jr or iman ariza/ kj/ dekker dmo/ beasley/ harrel dwight/ capella with the right coach, and if the bigs pan out, this can be a darkhorse contender. all starters are above average 2 way players. only weak spot on bench is sf and if it doenst work out then we just go small ball with bev backup both guard spots and jr at sf also beasley at sf if he can stay with them someone get morey on the phone.

Im not giving up Harden. That boy can ball and he is elite offensive we haven't seen in a very long time. I feel as though all Harden needs is people he truly trusts. He trusts Beasley, thats why they look so good together. Harden definitely freely shares the ball with him and rightfully so. Harden trusted Smith too. I think we could all agree we trust Beasley with the ball more than we trust Smith. However, if Smith could get rolling I would love to keep him. Right now he's dead weight, I admit. I am hopeful for him to find a role. Howard has a much higher chance of leaving though I hope he doesn't. If he does though im going for Whiteside. Numbers are very similar. He's younger and hits around 44% on jumpers >3ft. I would still try to get assets for Ibaka though, coming off a down year maybe we could get him. I love twin towers and hate small ball. He's a solid 6'10, would be nice IMO. As someone else stated, Rondo would be a great gain too. He cant shoot but creates opportunities very nicely. Someone said he's close with Smith, don't know how accurate that is. Maybe that guy meant they're close in mid range fg%. At any rate sign me up for Rondo/Harden/Ariza/Ibaka/Whiteside. If we miss Durant that's still a solid lineup, I'd certainly take over what we've got now. It's a push whether I would take Whiteside or Howard though. Howard is great for the community, don't know how Whiteside is. Maybe take the one that would cost less.
if the last 3-4 posts are any indication of what this team is going to be i think i may check back on the rockets in about 5 years to see how things are going.
this season proves more than anything he cant be the first option. and rockets wont best last season's roster. too many factors had to be perfect for them. even if they get a first option, they wotn be able to surround him and harden with enough talent. it'll be just like okc. thats why i wanna trade harden and keep dwight. we'll get more in return and if they cant contend, then at least be a top team for fa's.
Harden needs offensive help. I'm not sure what Rocket team you are watching or what stats you are looking at but in terms of usage and minutes, Harden is the offensive engine of this team.
I went on a tirade against Harden last night but now have come down to Earth. I just think a really decent coach will turn things around. Harden is a keeper but Dwight must go. I think Morey didn't push trade talks really hard to the right teams this past trade deadline. Heck, there was Robin Lopez and or Porzingis, Steven Adams, Jalil Okafor or Nerlens Noel, maybe getting Asik back, etc etc. One of these scenarios would have played out with a trade. He's still big name Dwight Howard and these GMs would still be thinking of prime Orlando Dwight hidden somewhere. Just damn.
i dont think he'll get traded and hope morey build sa team around him properly this offseason. with dwight gone there's plenty of cap space and trading pieces to get it done. hopefully the dmo trade was a sneaky move to re-sign him for cheap. even if it wasnt, that back is a max contract killer. i beleive a properly harden-led team can reach the wcf tops, def 2nd round. but not a contender. there's also potential since he's still young and can always improve his game.
isn't ricky rubio going to be a free agent this summer? he would be a good PG for rockets. plus, hes a good defender and doesn't take many shots.
I like him but he is locked up for the next few years at $12 million/yr. His TS% isn't horrible anymore, he gets deflections, and any really spread the rock around. If Minny decides Lavine is the truth, Rubio may be available in the offseason. Definitely an option I hope the team explores
Rubio would be a terrible fit here, we already had a pass-first PG that couldn't score in Lawson,. How does Rubio help this team offensively with Harden running it? What the Rockets need is another guy on the perimeter who can score, and a nice new surrounding cast for the beard. Spoiler Oh yeah, and a coach Spoiler . Gitter dun, Maori.
Because of his defense and playmaking, Rubio is the IDEAL point guard to play next to James Harden. But for that to ever happen, Harden is going to have to agree to play shooting guard and accept a playmaker that can get him the ball easier and in better positions for him to dominate scoring the basketball. Harden should be averaging between 33-35 ppg. And Rubio would have him doing that easily on an even better efficiency with far fewer turnovers. Not only would Rubio make Harden the leading scorer in the league but he would also be able to find and feed Dwight in ways that Harden can only dream about (or not) because Rubio is the far superior passer and creater to Harden. If we had had Rubio on this roster for the last couple seasons and had given him the basketball so he could feed both our superstars we would not be discussing chemistry issues with Harden and Dwight. We'd either have a ring or we'd be discussing putting the final touches on a championship roster. We need Rubio. I'm hoping Morey makes a serious run at acquiring him this summer.

Under the assumption that Harden won't buy in and share playmaking duties, yes you are correct. However, if Harden relinquishes, Rubio could bring a lot to this team. He creates chaos defensively (his steal percentage is off the charts), is a great playmaker, and protects the rock. Even his TS% isn't all bad this year (.505). The current Rockets system is predicated on chaos. Playing the passing lanes, running fast breaks, and largely taking the most efficient (layups and FTs) and high variance (threes) opportunities on offense. We've struggled this year because we have to overextend our defense to create these turnovers and give up way too many live ball turnovers. Rubio helps SOOO much here. He plays the passing lanes masterfully and protects the ball on the other end.
