The problem with your graph is that in islam there is no such thing as a non-muslim civilian.

 

That isn't the correct question to ask. If you ask a ISIS member "Do you think it's okay to kill an innocent civilian?", they would respond with "No."

The correct question to ask is "Who do you consider innocent?"

Since the poll was for American Muslims, I'm sure the answers will be pretty moderate as American Muslims are probably the most secular/moderate group of Muslims on the planet.

Well, yeah--that was kinda my point. I wasn't debating the relative merits of violating the Constitution to surveil foreign ISIS members.

 

why not audit right-wing organizations for tax reasons, and surveil right-wing radicals--they are as equal of a null threat or perhaps even more. if you're going to violate the Constitution, you might as well do it for all groups that pose a threat (sadly, as Snowden leaks have shown, it is only really political Muslims that have carried that burden).

 

Ted Cruz wants to patrol American Muslims though... The most secular/moderate group of Musims on the planet. Which is why it's relevant.
