Thoughts on the rest of this year - how to go about it

1. Bench Harden, Ariza, Howard, and Bev.

2. Release McDaniels and Terrence after getting Philly, or Orlando, or Portland to agree to pick them up to get us under the luxury tax.

3. Sign Aaron Craft to a 3-year non-guaranteed deal using part of the MLE.

4. Sign Raphiael Putney to a 3-year non-guaranteed deal using part of the MLE (if possible), otherwise sign Putney to a 2-year non-guaranteed minimum salary deal.

5. Release JET.

6. Sign Larry Sanders to a 2-year non-guaranteed minimum salary deal.

7. Lose all the remaining games and see if we can get down to #11 in the lottery.

DD, great points and I agree with every bit of your post. I think the thing you hit on about DMo is the most important part. He is a player we will either seriously regret losing, thank the heavens we kept him or regret not vetting him enough.

Morey seems to know who you are so I hope he reads your post.

 

It seems like we all agree that this team is awful and that we should play the young guys and glue these vets to the bench. I'm honestly amazed to see us all agree on anything - but that's how terrible this team has been.

I sure hope Harden matures quickly. He's an other worldly talent but he's going to need to take a mental leap if he's going to be an MVP candidate and player worthy of pinning our hopes on again.

 

Regarding a re-build, does anyone have any knowledge of where Harden's head is in terms of staying with Houston past next season?
Agree entirely about a re-build and giving the rooks some more court time. But against tanking.
No. 1 priority for Les & Morey should be working on a short list of candidates for coaches - and whether certain free agents are for or against them.

Yeah you can build around Harden, no offense here, but I think you all have to deal with issues and inconsistent seasons

Morey isn't really the hungry new guy from years ago.

 

I hope they sneak in the playoffs because if they get 8. Losing to the Warriors, or Spurs is understandable, but if we win the 1st round. It will make our season and more.

 

To be honest, the last few games have been a lot better from the Rockets than I expected.

 

My favorite Rockets team was the 09 team that took a loaded Lakers to 7 games. God I wish I could watch that series over and over again.

Harden is not the player you want to build around.. Very good scorer, but that's all he brings to the table.
