You could tell it was gonna be bad from the reports about DC saying the movie might be 'too smart for Marval fans' or whatever they said. They were making excuses alrdy for bad reviews.
35% on RT is mind-blowingly bad but critics are typically harsh. The audience score will be much higher. 2 hours 31 minutes is too long. I'll probably check it out on DVD later this year.
Did they really say that? Cray. Lelz. Maybe this movie will make more than Avengers, in which case would justify the statement. They better not have too many plot holes.
wow, you guys didn't run into each other? clutchfans legends? true story, i ran into dadakota on the street when i was going to lunch like bruce wayne and clark kent
A shame, but not surprising considering Snyder. Some of those negative reviews definitely came out with an obvious chip on their shoulder though. I'll have to see it for myself, but I'm probably going to be disappointed like I was with MoS. They never said that, it was some blog throwing out theories off some other rumor from another blog.
Is it? Deadpool was outstanding, and I believe Civil War will be as well (I'm also quite excited for Dr. Strange, not to mention the Marvel Netflix shows have been great). I just think DC was really trying to force the issue on their shared universe and it ended up like Iron Man 2 (but apparently much worse). These movies aren't going away. I'm guessing there's going to be a lot of disappointed DC fans though. At least it's better than Man of Steel from what I've heard. Maybe?
Sounds like this movie will do bad with the critics and general audience but hopefully do well with the fanboys from what I've been reading in the SHH forums and that's ok with me. I'll take a good not great movie as Dave said. I really enjoyed man of steel so I'm sure I'll like this either way.
So Snyder did what he always does? I'm shocked. As I said earlier in this thread, DC fans should hope for this film to be a big disappointment so someone else can be brought on to replace Snyder going forward.
I just rewatched Man of Steel in prep for this film, I actually enjoyed the first and second act much more than before. The problem came with the 3rd act and the whole destroying earth for civilizing Kryptonians. The film should have ended after the iHop fight because it truly did turn to **** after that. I still plan on going to see BvS, but this will probably be the lowest critically rated film I've seen since MoS. I don't get why Warner Bros didn't wait and see how BvS turns out before just giving the whole Justice League and DC universe keys to Zach Snyder.
I just don't know why DC fired these bullets all at once. Batman is money all by himself. Wonder Woman's big screen debut would have been money. Instead they put all of their eggs into one movie, and likely set a poor tone for the entire shared universe. Marvel basically gave them a blueprint to print money, and they inexplicably chose to ignore it. Man of Steel was a very polarizing movie. Some people loved it, I hated it. That seems to be the tone they are gonna follow with the entire universe, and I really have no interest in it now.
I’m planning on seeing it tomorrow night and I’ve read through some of the early reviews. Honestly, a lot of critics are complaining about the how dour and dark the whole thing is which I attribute to them not knowing much about the primary source material. It does sound overstuff and like some of the script is an issue but nothing I’ve read from early reviews sounds damning. Honestly, some of the criticism sounds close to what people were saying about his Watchmen film, one of the only Synder films I’d say I actually love.
ha, that's awesome, funny I met you at the Dark Knight screening and you were at this same screening Spoiler thoughts on the end? thought it was pretty bold of them but knew it's just an enigma. They can get away with it in the comics, but we'll see how the movie audience reacts to this.... fwiw, I thought Joblo's review was spot on, but I'd give it a notch more of 6/10 http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/review-batman-v-superman-dawn-of-justice-116
That critics I trust liked the movie so I shall be entertained at the very least. Still, one has to wonder if they take directing duties away from Snyder for Justice League, or if he "steps down" from directing it.
I think I'll wait until it hits Netflix or some other way for me to just watch at home. What I'm reading from the critics is what turns me off of most superhero movies to begin with...and the "over-stuffed" concept has me thinking of Spider-Man 3. No, thanks.
Tinman: If I wanted it, you'd be dead already! DaDakota: (eyes glowing) Do you bleed? Yes, I have to say that I keep getting suckered in. Snyder made a critic's darling with "Watchmen" (I read that the Director's Cut is superior?) but his results since then have been: fantastic visuals; most everything else a mess (although his actors aren't bad; they are, however, sometimes given dialogue that would make even George Lucas wince). All that said, I'll be in the theater watching it.
One of the most expensive movies of all time and potentially the biggest movie in Warner Brothers history...and they give the keys to Zack Snyder... Amazing. Just amazing. The lolz are very real.
what did snyder do to get where he is? I remember he made a fun zombie remake next thing you know he is putting the fate of superman in his hands. Half way into man of steel, I was almost jizzing in my pants thinking this m'fer is going to pull it off! but snyder couldn't resist himself. I do blame superman a little for it. When you have 2 powerful aliens fighting, things are going to get destroyed. Will still go watch SvB this weekend, I too can't resist myself.
