Man of Steel made $200 million domestically. That is not a flop.

    Sorry to be a nerd....more like $280,000,000.

I wasn't nuts about the film but liked it a little better on second glance. Snyder can certainly do action, and this new film looks awesome and might close up the problem of two dudes duking it out and destroying an entire city...and no consequences.

You have to reset your gauge to modern numbers. Production budget was 225, marketing budget on top of that. Without foreign market it loses money so define flop however you want. I think that movie had the best trailer to crappy movie ratio I have ever seen.

I really liked his version of Watchmen. I liked the changes from the comic and the feel of the movie. Superman isn't a dark character so that tone didn't work for me but it will fit this story. I guess they are stealing some story from Dark Knight Returns

Zach Snyder makes good trailers but his movies sometimes do not live up to that.

Always have to be wary of preview reactions. That said, while I was disappointed in MoS, I expect Terrio and Affleck additions to have a more positive effect.

There have been Twitter bots spamming negative stuff for months now.

There's definitely some shadiness going on, but not likely from Warner's side.

I really liked MoS. I felt that the whole Lois angle was contrived/forced, probably due to edits to keep the movie down to manageable screen time. But the action was outstanding.

I have no qualms that this movie is going to make big bucks, especially worldwide, BUT it needs to carry that positive nerd buzz or it's going to leave a lasting bad taste in the zeitgeist's mouth.

Warner needs this to be a home run in order to jump-start their DC Cinematic universe. They've already erred in not tying in their TV shows, which Marvel does.

I'm still standing my my expectations that this movie will probably rock action-wise but story wise may feel a bit jammed-packed/rushed ala Avengers Age of Ultron when it needs to be sublime ala Avengers 1.

From the Comic Book Resources board in response to someone asking a person who has seen the film "Is there anything major left to spoil?"

Also from CBR, more fan reviews from screening (including youtuber JaeRoar):

I've managed to get this far without spoiling myself so I'm going to stop looking at the internet at all until I've seen the movie at 7 tonight. I have a huge grant to write for work so that will occupy me until I go line up for the special screening.

I've literally never been so excited for a movie in my life so my expectations are through the roof. If it's anything less than brilliant I'll be disappointed.

Putting a lot of pressure on a ZS movie.

Soundtrack to Watchmen was very good so that doesn't surprise me. The WW tweet does though. How does that shock anyone?

This is a bold route to take with Zach Snyder films...

I thought that The Watchmen was freaking brilliant. It is frame for frame the graphic novel (excluding the changes at the end). Snyder gets alot of unwarranted hate.

It's really good to hear you're able to get your butt out of bed and go to it.

    Go Batman!
