I have a screening for tomorrow night, I'm not counting on getting in since the screening is at 7pm and I get out of work at 5pm, who knows how ridiculous the lines will be since some people that have these passes don't have any life, but I'm going to give it a shot
I've been obsessing over spoiler-free user reviews. I've seen about 100 that responded extremely positively and zero that didn't. My favorite critic's response to the movie (and they can barely say anything because they're embargoed until tomorrow) was that DC just caught up to three years of Marvel movies in a single film. Another said that The Avengers was a great kids movie but that this movie transcends the superhero genre and pulls it off beautifully. I was offered tickets for tomorrow night but I have to work so I'll see it Friday. My expectations are very high.
Link to these spoiler free reviews, please. I've been dying to read some as well. Began reading the latest entertainment weekly issue with batman on the cover but stopped right away because they got into some possible spoilery stuff regarding why they're fighting each other. Stuff that has yet to be revealed in the trailers.
EDIT: My bad. Most of these have been taken down now. Maybe this will tide some people over. These were all up yesterday. I just checked a few after posting though and see that most of them have been taken down. Bummer. They got me really excited for the movie and I'm sure they would have done the same for everyone here but I guess they violated the embargo. Apologies for the bad links.
I watched Daredevil in preparation, and it wasn't all bad. Seems like they were caught between being some dark hero movie ( which was working for me ) and an early Keaton Batman ( which felt too comic booky ). Surprised to see on Man's sidekick in the movie. Good cast. Emotional moments. Got an impish Matrix moment. But overall, though it had the potential for an epic movie, but someone messed it up. Didn't care for Farrell myself in that roll, but generally like his work. Affleck was decentish.
So why were they taken down? Plants/propaganda? Warner/DC desperately needs this movie to hit the jackpot. I wouldn't put it past them to try some subterfuge to boost attendance. I -am- going on opening night, so not hating on the flick, just the early reviews all seem a little similar.
Because of the embargo. They were from real people (some critics, some comic creators). I'm seeing an advance screening tomorrow night. I'll post spoiler-free response late tomorrow night or the next day.
I don't know how I'll be productive at work until Thursday. I've been waiting for this movie my whole life and it's only 3 days away!
Man of Steel was a domestic flop but did very well in other countries. Ben Affleck also does very well in foreign box offices. Even with the massive budget it will make money.
