Blah. The game was won by the substitutions. Guardiola made the right subs that had great impact. Allegri...not so much.
ESCAPED!!! Holy ****! No football match killed me like this one since the World Cup final. That is why we love football! Our defense is terrible without Boateng, but this comeback shows the quality of our offense. Juventus played excellent defense and we still made it possible. Feel a little bad for Juve, since they're one of Europe's top four and this match would've been worth a semi-final. After that war Bayern deserves an easy draw in the quarters.
Should've continued to be aggressive and aim for the 3:0, you don't do this ultra-defense crap vs Bayern.
Can you stop this Guardiola bashing already? It's getting pretty old. I don't watch your games much but to accuse Pep after last night's game simply shows your personal grudge against him. I'm sure he's ****ed up before just like he did at Barca but last night's game isn't on him. I'm sure others here feel the same but for some reason nobody tells you anything.
That was the key.. should kept pressing especially since the back 5 ( including Neur) were making careless and dangerous mistakes.
Most of the individual mistakes weren't on him, I agree with that. But he's prone to questionable line-ups and decisions: Why no Coman and Thiago from the start? Why start Xabi again and again, when he's complete crap? What's up with giving Bernat so many minutes, when he never delivers? Why have Alaba play in the midfield so often, where he's committing so many bad turnovers? Thing is that most fans see those mistakes before the matches even start and Pep then takes a long time to make up for them. When he finally makes the necessary substitutions and brings the line-up that everyone wanted as a Starting XI, you can see the results. Many of our close matches, draws and losses are a result of that.
To add to this: Treatment of Mario Goetze - disgraceful Does not learn - we were eliminated in embarrassing fashion due to his "game plan" against Real and Barca two years in a row (after having eliminated them in the two previous years, so clearly, there was a shift for the worse under Guardiola), and the same thing almost happened against Juve - his tactics work well against weaker teams, but not against the good teams. I predict that the same thing will happen again this year. By the way, after the loss, he said "I take responsibility for the loss", but then said "because I allowed the players to not play my system. From now on, only what I say counts", thereby obviously shifting responsibility away from himself. What a freaking weasel. Allegedly tries to lure players and key management people away from Bayern while he is still under contract with Bayern Drove away people who are part of the core identity of Bayern and replaced them with older and worse people from Spain First thing he did when he arrived in Germany was to fire his German teacher, which should have been a telling sign from the start that this was always meant to just be a brief career stop for this mercenary. I will give him that his training is very good, as reported by players, and that his system works well to dominate against weaker opponents. I will also say that some really good gems (like Coman and Costa) were added to this team while he has been coach (I don't know how much credit for that goes to him). But you have to build the system around the players and around the expected opposition. When you play against Barca or Real with their super fast wings and strikers, it is simply suicide to stand so high and try to dominate possession at all times. But because that's all he wants all the time, the team can then not adapt. Trust me, the players are not sad that he is leaving. A few players (his favorites) benefitted from him, so they publicly support him. But he is not loved, like Jupp was. Not even close. I watched yesterday's match not from the VIP area, but from regular seats, and I can promise you one thing: Every single hardcore fan that was around me there hates this guy and can't wait to see him gone. That was the big topic during the match. And people said the same even after we won. Also, we didn't win this match because we played Guardiola-style. We won this match because we were lucky and because we showed a lot of will to just get the ball into the box somehow and score whichever way. That's more the traditional Bayern and Germany way. I'm not saying the guy is the devil or something. He is a very good coach. But I - and many Bayern fans - are still free to be glad when he is gone, after having gotten to know him a bit. And Barca is doing just fine without him. He is a mercenary now.
