Yeah, like I said. The only thing that's making me think Mike wants repeat business is that line, and the fact he went as far with Nacho's plan to even meet with the gun dealer. Just seemed like he seriously considered the $50k, and didn't find that really all too dangerous -- except for Nacho. (And Mike says it's a dangerous plan for Nacho.) I took at as Mike finding a better plan for Nacho, too, for his repeat business. You look at it as Mike was thinking only of himself. Plus, my take was based on what we know from BB (Kaylee's Trust).

I don't mind being wrong about this -- just sharing my original take.

btw: with "this is going to suck him back into that world" you make it sound like we know that Mike has a past that he doesn't want to return to. What episode(s) was that? What "world" do we know from BCS. I guess I missed it. I've been watching BCS thinking Mike wants to do more than work at a parking lot and rely on low-level jobs from a Vet.

I guess I'm missing something. Maybe he doesn't want it, but isn't afraid of managing how it plays out, and justifies it with Kaylee's Trust.

The one thing I definitely got out of that meeting with the gun dealer is that Mike is ex-military- maybe even a Vietnam Vet. I'm sure we'll hear more about that later.

Another thing Jonathan Banks slipped out in an interview- not really a spoiler, because I know little to zero details, is that there is something coming up in one episode in which Jimmy and Mike spend a long time together- I don't know if it means in the courtroom, on the lam, trapped somewhere- no earthly idea- but it's probably the point where they decide to work together. It makes sense, though, because they keep showing Mike and Jimmy sitting on a bench- waiting for a bus out of town, maybe?

So, up to now, we really have no knowledge of Mike's past or his take on higher paying jobs...that would pull him back into some world he's escaping. That would be speculation, too, right? There really is nothing concrete that would say he's not looking to for a higher paying gig like the head of security for something bad, as he is in BB.

I guess the concept is everyone is trying not to be bad.

Nope- all we know is that he's a former cop who was breaking bad ("taking a taste", as he called it, by keeping money confiscated from drug dealers) and he killed 2 cops who killed his son. But by the way he particularly handled a gun with a camouflage design, and also by the way he told Nacho he could make the shot across the street on Tuco, I'm guessing he's definitely ex-military. I just personally think he'd rather take very low-key jobs- that was behind his "I'm not looking for that kind of work" comment to the vet. But after Stacey freaks out, and Mike says he's going to get her into a different house, I'm thinking he takes Nacho's job just to get money to move his daughter out. I don't think he really wants to get back into the "breaking legs/killing people" world but gets sucked back in against his best wishes.

Ok, you convinced me. It's all about no one wants to break bad.

Mike's fine with being a parking lot attendant and continuing low-paying, side jobs to make up for his lost pension (guess), using the safe vet as his recruiter. But gets pulled out of that life that he wants to keep.

I just thought out of all the characters in BCS (and Walt, too), Mike was the one who didn't mind being bad. And the vet told him "it takes time to work your way up to better jobs." Mike just wants a safe way of doing it on his own terms, and doesn't like working with idiots. I thought he liked Nacho, though, and sees a faster way to the better jobs that the vet can't score for him, yet.

Actually, the vet didn't tell him that- the vet said, "You want next-level pay, you gotta do next-level work." And he said, "We talked about this." So, what I would guess is that Mike really does not want that kind of work. He says it back in Five-O in Season 1 ("I'm not looking for that kind of work") and then repeats it again- so I just guessed that he really doesn't want to take jobs that require him to injure or kill.

And the vet was the one that called Mike to hook him up with Nacho, remember? Nacho didn't call him- the vet did and said "I got a job for you.. and the guy specifically asked for you." So, the vet can actually get him these higher-paying jobs b/c he's the one who facilitated the meet between Mike and Nacho.

Dandorotik - the high school English teacher of Clutchfans.

He's like that high school teacher you had that would always find the hidden symbolism and meanings in books, and when they first brought it up, you were like, pssshhh, but then it made sense. He's been spot on in this thread, helping me pull a bit more out of the episodes, or echoing thoughts I've had that haven't been expressed by others. Rep.

My teacher was obsessed with Heart of Darkness. Dan, I'm glad you are that way with these series.

He's an ex-marine sniper from what I gathered with his dealings with the arms dealer.

His death on Breaking Bad is a little more gutwrenching now than it ever was. I like Mike.

The thing is, I'm trying to write a novel and I'm studying certain novels, movies and shows to see how they develop story and create suspense. The one thing I've learned from BB and BCS is to wait until the very end to reveal. So, in one chapter of my book that's in my head, this 12-year old girl is going to the store. I mention about how she rides to the store every day, and something about keeping it in tip top shape, and how it's her prized possession. And the last sentence says something like "the grocery store door closed, barely grazing the back of her wheelchair." So the whole chapter the type of "vehicle" is never revealed until the last sentence. That kind of stuff.

Yes, I understand. You already convinced me. Mike doesn't want to turn bad. That's what the show is about. Everyone is breaking bad.

It's clear he doesn't want to break knee caps and kill people. I mean, does he even do that that much in BB?

So, he wants to stay safe in his parking attendant job and take lowkey safe jobs from the vet, and doesn't want to leave that life, but something pulls him against his will into his BB role of a high-paying head of security job to fund Kaylee's Trust.

How can I agree more with you?

The primary thing about BCS and Breaking bad. . . is their deliberate and slow pace
    IS MEANT FOR BINGE WATCHING
It is maddness for the week to week follower

    In my humble opinion

    Mike is the best character
I think the meet with Hector was not what he wanted
I dunno why he would not have expected that . . .
(Did Nacho ever mention that Tuco was the nephew .. . . )

I think he was fine with steady work . . .. like with the Dumb Drug dealing nerd guy
He just not going to be as stupid about it as the guy was . . ..
(Some odd reason I hope to see him and his stupidity again)

I don't know man. I had Mr. Pirtle? for sophmore english class @ memorial. He was convinced that the leech scene in STAND BY ME was all about them discovering at that point that they were no longer boys.

So I'm watching The Rugrats Movie where they go to Paris... and Chuckie's dad sounds exactly like Vince Gilligan.
