No it specifically says you don't really need money for primaries but you do for general. Who knows what the truth is but Obama had a crapton of money.

If you read the article, the entire article, it has a lot to say and it emphasizes exactly how his technique which works for a primary (with tens of millions of voters) is probably not translatable to the general (with over a hundred million voters). Maybe he can pivot to yet some new strategy outside convention (pun intended).

    Great and interesting article.

It also says the general is all about turnout and Trump has turnout in his favor.

The biggest sin, in the eyes of the GOP, that Trump has committed is that he has refused to take their money. And Trump probably doesn't need much of their money: his brand is so much more well known than Hillary's.

Heh, the election is going to cost probably about 2-3 billion which constitutes pretty much all of his net worth - he's going to to throw it all away rather than take free money?

Trust me, Trump isn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier - but no way does he turn down a free couple of billion dollars.

No he doesn't, which is why he has yet to get a majority of votes in a primary or caucus (and this is with a set of voters that is demographically much more favorable to him than the general election set will be) . You have to build an organization to target potential voters, shape messages that appeal to them and be on the ground to make sure they vote.

Heard a Trump spokeswoman on local public radio out here this morning. It was an incredibly disturbing interview.

She said she welcomed Trump's comments about roughing up distracting protestors. She said that Trump supporters were only defending themselves against thugs.

This is almost *exactly* what Hitler and Goebbels were saying before and immediately after 1933. Basically, on behalf of the brown shirts: "No, our followers just defend themselves against the violence of the communists. And we must defend ourselves, and moreso the Fatherland! etc etc."

Yesterday, Trump was whining about the negative ads against him. He might be on suicide watch when the Clinton machine is done with him. The Clintons are ruthless negative-campaigners. Remember, it wasn't McCain that first brought out Wright, Ayers, Rezko, etc. It was the Clintons, unafraid to (attempt to) destroy the first legitimate black presidential candidate in U.S. history. In the waning days of the primary, they were desperately searching for that mythical Michelle Obama "whitey" video. These are tough cookies.

If the jackboot fits, dude. I've not been one to rush to such crazy-sounding historical comparisons in my many years here, but having studied that awful period in no little detail, it is stunning, and frankly awful, to watch.

Very well put. I think Obama has been a good president but not great and there are several areas that he should legitimately criticized on. Too much of the criticism overblown hyperbole based on upon a speculative image of Obama than the actual facts.

trivializing the holocaust. When Trump puts the smartest people on building the most efficient machine man can devise to kill millions of people let me know.

You and Mike will be very glad to know I've thought long and hard about the Holocaust, have written and published about it even. Thanks to you and Mike both. I know the origin of his law, which I applaud.

Look, I know it sounds hyperbolic, and it's a bad look for a poster like me who usually calls out hyperbole. But Jesus, the carbon copy language, scapegoating, incitement, rhetoric, rallies... they do disturb me. I didn't go into this season disliking Trump or having much of an opinion. I wasn't biased against him at all, say, 12 months ago. Like others, I thought he was kind of a screwy, funny TV jokester. After deeds and words, I feel very differently. Sorry if you think any comparison must be jettisoned, but I'm definitely not the only one making it here.

If it makes you and Mike Godwin feel better, here's one way that Trump is not quite behaving like a historical fascist. He wants Apple to make i-Phones completely within the US. Other fascists have historically been okay exploiting foreign labor and parts (and even imported slave labor, of course).

LOL @ what an i-Phone would cost. I guess the goal might be for fewer Americans to be able to own i-Phones, thus perpetuating angry, low-information voters in droves.
