ah, I had this backwards. That's important and definitely changes the story. Though there is certainly a chance the Texans' staff believes he can play guard in their system or with their coaching. But let's see.. Given that Okung is from the Houston area, that could've been a courtesy check on a hometown discount or something. But good to know they are actually monitoring the market. And I am surprised--even moreso when you say Allen will be at T
If there is a guy worth taking at #22, I don't think the Texans should be worried about what that means for Strong. I liked him coming out of college and didn't mind that we traded up for him, but truth is that he came into camp out of shape last season and will face a 1 game suspension minimum going into next. The Texans just need to add weapons IMO. Hopkins had more receptions, yards, and TDs than the next 3-4 guys combined which is just crazy. Shorts has missed a ton of games the past 3 seasons so depending on him for more than 2/3 of the season is a gamble. Completely agree on the 2nd part but WRs that can do all of that are unbelievably rare.

Just to be clear that we are talking about the same person.. They signed Jeff Allen the free agent guard from KC. He will play guard. They also RE-SIGNED Jeff ADAMS, the guy who got hurt hear last year. He was set to be the starting guard because XSF couldn't win the job. He is NOT a guard though. Sucks as a guard, passable as a tackle. Ideal use is as a swing player. They also re-signed Chris Clark for $3 million to be a swing tackle. That's two guys who play backup tackle, neither a good starter PLUS they have Quessenberry coming back PLUS they have Kendall Lamm that the coaching staff apparently really likes as a tackle.
I feel like the only times they used Lamm, they were making him an eligible receiver and doing short tosses to him.
From what I have read elsewhere, Quessenberry will be a long shot to make the team, from a medical standpoint. I am sure that the Texans will give Quessenberry every opportunity to make the team.

to be honest, I really liked Hal and Demps back there.. if they got allen for cheap who really cares? I would have rather had Okung, or Bennett, but I dont think they are putting the whole position on this guy. Side note, does this mean Demps is gone? I thought he did pretty well last year.
Word from NYJ fans are that "He's good at the line of scrimmage. Does pretty good at covering tight ends. He covered Gronk about as well as you can. Just don't try him at corner."
Granted, I haven't watched him play all that much, but from what I HAVE seen, he's freaking terrible in coverage. Like, "I'd almost prefer Rahim Moore back there in a coverage situation" levels of bad. On the flip side however, unlike Rahim Moore, Antonio Allen isn't allergic to contact, and is actually a very good tackler. As a purely "In the Box" safety, he's serviceable. The thing is, "In the Box" safeties are pretty much an obsolete breed nowadays.

Demps needs to be back, I like him. But ideally he needs to be the 3rd safety, not starting. This guy will cost much less than Okung or Bennet
gd. Thanks for the clarification. Was definitely thinking of Allen. I'm assuming anything that happens w/Quees will be a huge bonus this year, but the team isn't counting on him for starts at this point.
