Incorrect. The AFC South will never be interesting. Playing those same 3 teams twice every single year is making Jack a dull boy.
I just couldn't disagree more. I don't know if the Jaguars and the Titans will be GOOD as in playoff success, but the AFC South with have at a minimum 3 of the most entertaining QBs in football. Blake Bortles may never get himself to become a smart QB that doesn't kill his team with turnovers and needless sacks, but he will put up gaudy stats that make for entertaining games. Andrew Luck is probably the most overrated QB in history, but despite his poor statistics, he has some of the best natural talent ever and it makes for good games when he is bombing all over the field trying to get himself back into a game. Marcus Mariotta is a guy I badly wanted the Texans to draft. I don't know if he'll be able to stay healthy, but when he is healthy, that guy is as exciting a player to watch at QB as we've had in the league since Vick. He'll be one of the most explosive players at QB in the league for sure. None of that accounts for whatever chance you give Osweiler at becoming a good quarterback.
Never is a strong word... and last year, the NFC East was just as bad (if not worse, considering expectations) than the AFC South.
Y'all are mistaking me being tired of playing those teams for me saying those teams cant/wont be good. There's no excitement in it for me. I'm over playing the Jaguars 2 times a year. I don't care if the Colts have Manning, Luck or a robot at QB, I'm over it.
Who do you want them to play? Rivalries are born with competitive games year-in/year-out... and/or multiple playoff matchups. At one point, among the Rockets biggest rivals were the Jazz, Sonics, and Suns. Now? None of those teams represent anything close to a rival. The Texans are still relatively new to it all... there will be a point where games against those teams actually "mean" something more.
Oh OK, I gotcha. I agree with that. I hate the divisional system. I wish they would revamp the scheduling to make for some more exciting possibilities. If the league goes to 18 games I think they'll add regional rivals anyway, but if they don't... I think they should change the schedule as follows: -You play every team in your division once (3 games) -You play 2 other divisions in your conference every year (8 games) on a rotating basis. So year one, AFC South would play AFC West and AFC East. Year 2 they would play AFC East and AFC North, Year three they would play AFC North and AFC West, etc. with the home/away changing in the division you play back to back years. -You play one NFC division each year. (4 games) -You have two "designated rivals" The "Prime" rival is the inter-conference regional rival you play every year in alternating home/away games. The "secondary rival" would be a team from a different NFC division than your "prime" that would supplant it in the year you play your rival because of divisional alignment. So a hypothetical schedule for the Texans would be: Prime rival-Cowboys, Secondary-Saints Year 1: Colts Titans Jaguars Patriots AFCE Dolphins Jets Bills Chargers AFCW Broncos Chiefs Raiders Packers NFCN Vikings Lions Bears Cowbys Prime Rival Year 2: Colts Jaguars Titans Patriots AFCE Dolphins Jets Bills Ravens AFCN Steelers Bengals Browns Cowboys NFCE Giants Redskins Eagles Saints Secondary Rival I think it would be a much more exciting week to week schedule. 8 of your games being against a team you didn't play the year before, guaranteed, 4 of your games being against a team that you play in back to back years and then it changes and then 4 games against the same team every year (3 divisional and one rival).
Disagree on changing the divisional system. League wide, many of the best games each season are divisional games. And when there's a close race for divisional titles and the leaders faceoff, that's in essence a playoff game intensity wise. The AFC South is down and has been for some time. If the division could get 2-3 teams to consistently play competitive football this wouldn't even be a topic. You may say differently now, but if the Texans were in a dog fight every time they stepped on the field against one or two of their AFC South rivals and the games actually mattered for both teams... There's no way a fan of the Texans or football could see that as an undesirable situation. More nationally televised games, more heated rivalries, more memorable moments, more great games... How could anyone be against that happening for their home team? We just need the division to not suck as a whole for longer than the 2-3 year windows we've seen historically.
I think the system is perfect as is... its even more perfect since they went to 32 teams. Its the most fair rotational schedule in all of sports... everything is set from year to year, and divisions actually matter (with division games being rightfully more meaningful).
The AFC South has been good before, remember when the Texans finished in last place at 8-8? I swear some of y'all have ESPN-esque memories.
He played 8 games and if you double the production, it becomes 3934 yards passing with 20 TDs , 12 INT. ... I'll freaking take that. Not saying he will do that but he's projected to be able to do that so I'm quite happy. Now we just need to be smart with the draft picks
I wouldn't. The yards would put him at 15th in the league. The touchdowns would be tied for 20th. The interceptions would be 8th (as in 8th worst) So the only thing he would be top 10 in is the worst possible stat lol. Not to mention a worse than 2-1 interception ratio. I mean that is not a special quarterback at all. For comparison: If you took Hoyer's year last year and extrapolated it out to 16 games he would be at: 27 touchdowns 10 interceptions 3800 yards

In today's NFL, those stats are pretty bad. Honestly, Hoyer projects to better than that over 16 games (maybe not quite as many yards).
It's cyclical, every team in the division is on the rise with young building blocks. Things should turn in the next couple of years.

I don't know if it will work out, but I love everything I read/hear about Brock's work ethic and commitment. Read/heard multiple stories now that cite the fact that his teammates respected him. Those stories range from "respect" to the guy on the radio who said his teammates wanted him to be the starter.
