Guys that we could take from 40 men roster: Straily, Reynold, Wojo, Peacock. We have 39, we will probably need one spot for a back up catcher, unless we feel comfortable with Alfredo Gonzalez, who cost us the game yesterday. I don't. I would like to get a guy like Holaday or Saltalamachia as our backup. Maybe trade a pitcher to the Tigers for it? Wojo??? Is a pity we gave the good backup, for a backup in the Conger deal, Carlos Perez.
I think the lineup will be: 1. Altuve 2b 2. Springer rf 3. Correa ss 4. Rasmus lf 5. Gomez cf 6. Tucker dh 7. White 1b 8. Valbuena 3b 9. Castro c Tucker will be in 25 men roster due to Gattis injury. White and Duffy will battle a spot in the roster, unless Singleton hits in last 18 days in ST. Maybe they will use Marwin at 1b in that 1st game.
If McCullers is out I think Wandy is in as the 12th pitcher. I would love for Gattis to be ready at backup Catcher ASAP.
Gustave looks impressive, i believe the Royals made an error of not keeping him last year in 25 men roster. Wandy continues to pitch good baseball.
Rasmus hitting 4th makes us subpar at cleanup. Not like we have anyone else, though. Hopefully Gomez hits well for decent protection.
He wasn't subpar in last year's playoffs, and the power surge looks like it's continues so far this spring. Give that this is another contract year for him (like Gomez) I would say there's plenty incentive for him to continue to show that power this year. Expect a career high in homers for him.
re Moran, he has never played anywhere but 3B. 3 years at UNC he played 3rd base the entire time. Since he has been in the minors, he has played nowhere but 3rd. in 20 games in Spring training over the last 3 seasons, he has played nowhere but 3rd base. He is slow, he isn't getting converted to an OF and likely would never play 1st, he just doesnt hit enough. If he is on the MLB roster this year, he will play 3rd.
Colby does seem to have the clutch gene... he killed it '09 playoffs with STL, slugging 1.323. He's 29-years-old and his highest HR total is 25. I'll take a career high 26 HR with a .250 BA, right now. He batted .238 last year and has a career average of .245
Meanwhile, Tyler White leads the club in hits this Spring. Maybe we don't have a problem at first base at all
He's a consistent hitter. He will probably hit over 300 his rookie year. Should be opening day starter.
