That may be, but you said he stood by his comments from 1990. He did not, he clearly capitulated. Plus, we are talking about comments from 25 years ago. There's a lot of reasons I wouldn't support Trump, but what he said 25 years ago isn't one of them. I don't think anything anyone did 25 years ago short of an action that demonstrates mental illness would impact my view of a political candidate negatively compared to what they have done in the past 10 years.
It's not only the blame of protesters, but that Trump supporters are violent too. I mean the guy who assaulted a protester talked about how next time they may have to kill the guy.
He stood by his comment that it was an example of strong leadership and he spewed Chinese government propaganda calling the students "rioters".....he didn't really capitulate, he actually doubled down.
I don't find it funny at all, be it "D" or "R".... The probable Republican nominee had to cancel based on safety concerns/threats.

You are comparing a group of people to a culture who committed mass genocide. ......smh You act just like the Donald. I don't think you even know it.
I think given his comments, Trump would call that mass genocide "strong leadership" just like other leaders who have killed large numbers of their own people. He's also promised/threatened to provide strong leadership in this country. So yeah, I see Trump supporters as pretty much the same thing.
The idea of protesting is to instigate and provoke. It's their right. What also happens in these situations is that there is a potential for violence. Trump has some blame for this as he has encourage violence. Maybe Trump needs to tell the people that attend his rallies that part of what makes America great is that you can protest without getting punched in the face.
People can say whatever they want about protesters. But I think we have to admit that, if you're supposed to unite a nation under your leadership, you are doing something dumb-as-dog**** wrong if a good number of people want to protest your primary election rallies.
We will have to see if we find out exactly what the threat was. It had to be pretty serious for the Chicago PD to suggest cancelling the rally. FWIW I think canceling it will only make it more likely there is future violence. The protestors think they were able to stop Trump and his followers are now even more angry. Anyone that hits a nonviolent protestor should be immediately arrested... Likewise any protestor that is violent should be arrested. Just too many people that think they are overly important... A lot of these people on both sides just want attention.
And its just a coincidence that this happens to nice Mr. Trump? Has nothing to do with his message or statements, right? Come on.
The idea these morons had is to shut down a speech by Trump. They just tried to shut down a freeway and got shut down by the cops. Now the Chicago PD is dealing with a ton of crap from these people. ETA: And doing a brilliant job. These cops are awesome.
The point is that most of the time when an authoritarian rises to power it ends poorly for that country. Trump is an authoritarian and he needs to be stopped. It's simply not worth the risk.
