Agreed. Everywhere Peyton has been he's made the line look drastically better than they really were. I remember when he left Indy their QB's all of the sudden started taking more sacks. Even before he got to Denver their line was giving up 20+ sacks more per year than when he got there. He's just an amazing qb at getting the ball out quick.

    that is spectacular.

if Kubes can turn him into a game manager and cut his turnovers, I'll be really impressed, I suppose

elway does recognize the qb position. if you're able to get a talent like sanchez, you pull the trigger. (on the season)

I'll be impressed if kubes can turn him into a heck of a kid.

He was likely signed as a back-up; remember, they have to replace two QBs.

That SI article is way off, it wasn't the 2 million difference. It was Kubes offense and the benching (denied) that made Brock want to leave. Broncos could have offered same or more, he wasn't gonna stay. Only chance was franchise but they used it on Von.

What's "telling" is that Brock chose the Texans organization, leadership, and coaches over the Broncos organization, leadership, and coaches. That's the real story no one is writing about.

    All media makes me sick.

exactly. Basically, Brock was sending enough signals he didn't want to stay in Denver and the Texans offer I'm sure was on the high-end (all teams operate under a cap after all!) so they had really no option other than to let him go (he was gone). The narrative that Brock sucks because Denver isn't dumb enough to let him go if they think he will be a star is off the mark...he wanted a fresh start and probably also thought the B'OB offense suited him better. End of story.

The rest of the haters can now talk up how Sanchez is going to be the next Manning under Kubes and Elway and slobber over how smart the Denver franchise is for acquiring him.

One thing I heard Jeff Chidiha say on the NFL network that I hadn't thought about was that the Texans have played the Broncos 2 years in a row in the preseason. Last year they had practiced together all week(3rd week, dress rehearsal), and the Texans staff/front office got a real good, up close look on who Osweiler is, on and off the field. That had to have played a hand in getting Osweiler right?

National Media : Brock is just trying way too hard to get on his teammates' good side. Peyton never had to pander to his receivers and running backs with text messages. He led by example. The Texans clearly overpaid out of desperation, and Elway saw them coming from a mile away.

A whole lot of spin control all the way around on this signing....

First, the Texans should have never needed to sign Brock. They should have drafted and groomed a QB years ago. They passed on Derek Carr who is a better quarterback than Osweiler at a fraction of the money. The Texans kept punting on the QB spot in the draft and the journeymen they brought in were failures. So, the only reason the Texans needed Brock was because they FAILED the previous 4-5 years to solve their QB issues.

Likewise, the Broncos are full of shiet, and all the good ole boy spin job by the media isn't going to change that. The Broncos REALLY wanted and needed Osweiler. He was familiar with their system and Elway has refused to trade him in the past. Elway got cute and didn't franchise tag him assuming that the Broncos would get some form of discount or that the Broncos could get the money to out bid everyone else. He severely misjudged both Osweiler and the market. He gets no criticism from the media, but it is a fact. He could have franchised him and worked out a deal. Instead he has a Super Bowl championship team without BOTH of their starting quarterbacks from last season. The Broncos are built to win NOW and they are looking at KNOWN failures like Kaepernick and signed Mark Sanchez.

Was it a "great deal" for the Texans? Well they got what they wanted entering free agency, so it that sense it is. However Osweiler is as likely to fail as he is to be a long term solution. The Texans are aware of that, which is why that guaranteed money is accelerated in years one and two.

Was it a "great deal" for the Broncos? Absolutely not. They lost two free agents trying to get Osweiler signed, and they do not have an NFL caliber QB on their roster. Has there ever been a Super Bowl team in it's prime that so poorly handled a QB situation?

they may think that now. But if Kap goes to the Browns and Fitzy back to the Jets.. then who's the starter? RG3 and Sanchize would be in a battle at a minimum

Wonder what deal Von gets in free agency if BO got franchised tagged instead.

Brock is doing all the rights things off the field so far. Texting a 9th string Running Back?! I wonder if the Janitor of NRG Stadium got one too. ;)

I actually mentioned this a few days ago; I would guess, given no one had any idea where all parties would be two years later, that O'Brien and/or (especially) Smith likely not only got an up close view of Osweiler, but unvarnished evaluations from Elway, Fox and/or Gase.

And my opinion of this regime raises exponentially if they had done the math and zeroed in on Osweiler that week with a "you never know..." purpose.
