Oh I know Reed wont be up. Was curious to see if Duffy's spot depends more on if Gattis is on the DL.

He's not terrible, but I heard a lot of raving reviews of him. I thought he would win the 1st base job, but there still time left I suppose.

maybe you should temper your expectations just a bit... we're what, 5 or 6 games into spring training?

He's hitting .400...what exactly were you expecting him to do?

He's only played 53 games at AA...you really expected him to win the job out of spring training?

Basically, I expected AJ Reed to do what Tyler White's been doing. Relax, guys. I said thus far, and there's still time left.

Giles just gave up a solo homer. Not a good spring for him so far.

So Ken Giles basically lost his Closer job he thought he had.

Stats for pitchers in the spring are largely meaningless to me. They're working on their pitches so pitch selection and sequence are thrown out the window.

Hitters on the other hand can definitely show you where they are with their hand eye coordination. See ball hit ball. It's hard to tone that down in games that don't count.

    Great point and I agree.

Could you imagine hitters saying to themselves..."I'm only going to swing at curveballs today. No fastballs."

Exactly. Did anyone else notice McHugh was throwing like 70% change ups the other day? This is training camp. Work on pitches, arm strength, etc. Pitch selection and sequences will commence come their last few starts.

Carlos Correa is a golden f'n god. Colby Rasmus is settled, happy, motivated - I think he has a breakout season. Tyler White mashes pitches no matter who is throwing them - to me, he has earned the 1B job.

I've seen a lot of hype around GoGo. Is anyone worried about him, production wise? I guess I just don't see the .280 30/30 guy that everyone else does.

Agree on Gomez. He still does that awful out-of-control swing of his. I guess everyone is attributing it to health (or lack thereof).

I really can't imagine any scenario at this point where White isn't on the opening day lineup and Singleton isn't starting the season in AAA. I guess Duffy/Tucker are going to get a shot to start the season as well regardless of how Reed does rest of ST.
