On top of praising the ruthlessness of Putin and the Chinese government when they slaughtered people at Tiananmen square, Trump claimed to be one of the biggest corrupting figures in US political history.
I'd be interested in hearing an answer to that too, I honestly don't know how anyone could defend those statements. When I say that he was "praising" them, he used the same adjective for their leadership that he uses for his own leadership. He bashes Obama and others for being weak and says that he'll be strong then talks about Putin and the Chinese who slaughtered their own people as being strong.....How is that not praise?
Among Trump supporters? Of course not. There's literally nothing he could have done that would change the mind of those people. He could be up there eating babies and they would be convinced that it was a great performance from him. When it comes to real people, I think there were at least a few moments where he looked really bad......like praising mass slaughter as "strong leadership" and the fact that his math is always bad.
It was a good debate. It's nice to have a debate without constant interruption. I didn't think CNN was capable of a decent debate, but they pulled it off. Trump was on his best behavior. Some might say he was as presidential as anyone but Abe Lincoln.

because if you look closely at those crowds, they are all middle aged white people. You can't win elections anymore with one demographic.
