Spoiler McNair: Exciting day for us, the city & these players. We've had a plan that we've had in place for several years. We've known where we wanted to go but you can't always go there when you want to. You have to have the opportunity. We were able to experience that situation yesterday. Rick did a heck of a job with these agents for these players. ... We're executing the plan. Like Bill says, we want to get better everyday. This is a day where we got a lot better. We added components that will be productive. We're excited. Draft is coming up. It's a wonderful opportunity. They'll rep the city & Texans well. We're delighted with that. We'll let you talk to them. Jeff Allen, G; Tony Bergstrom C/G; Lamar Miller, RB; & Brock Osweiler, QB; we're excited to have you guys with us. Rick: I would echo a lot of the sentiments that were just spoken from Mr. McNair. I have to thank Bob for the resources. We've had winning seasons 4 of the last 5 years but haven't taken the next step. This class of FAs gives us the opportunity to do that. I want to thank Cal & Bob. I wear a lot of hats but every decision we make is around one goal: to win. We're excited about these young men. Collaborative effort by our staff. Our football team is better. Excited for the city & our team. Bill: Not much left to say. I echo those sentiments. Thank Mr. McNair to allow us to make these moves. Exciting time for our team. It's a process. These 4 guys fill some needs in our opinion and make us better. We've done research on these guys. I couldn't find anyone who said anything bad about them. Good teammates, hard working. We have a locker room full of them. We're ready to go to work. Draft is coming up then OTAs. Qualities in Osweiler that made him your choice? Bill: Basically we evaluate the team and what we can do to make it better. We work separately and then come together to make a decision. We went into a room and watched film. We feel there's a lot of things about Brock, he's a good QB, command at the LOS, stands in the pocket, doesn't look at the rush & delivers it down the field, played in big games in Denver. Rick: He checks all the boxes in a QB. We're excited about having him. Impact of these 4 signings and the draft? Rick: We try to always evaluate the draft class independent of need. We had a need at QB. The level of success we've had over the years, we haven't had consistency at QB. Hopefully we advance further now. Having QB/RB/OL solidified, it allows us to stick to our guns on how we approach the draft. We'll take the best player during the draft. Where does this offseason rank for you? Rick: A lot of stuff was happening yesterday. For me, the busiest and most rewarding day. We made a significant investment, just in Brock alone. We lost a couple guys. That was disappointing. We feel good about this young man(Allen). Gritty, nasty, tough. Tony has versatility. Exciting day for me. Solidified most important position in football, helped the OL. Mentally targeted Osweiler? We look at all these guys. We watch tape during the year. Being in Denver a couple years ago, that's where we first met. You could tell then he had command of their offense and was playing behind & learning behind a pretty good guy. Played in tough, meaningful football games this year. It's not easy to be a starting QB in this league. It's one of the most difficult thing in sports. We have the right guy here. When did they first talk about Osweiler? McNair: 1. We said we'd get a QB. Rick said I'll get you a QB. Originally, we didn't know whether Brock would be available. We were still looking at him and hoping he would be available. We had a fair idea about the cost. As with anything, if there's more than one who wants it, it will cost you more. They wanted him in Denver. Rick hung in there. Price kept going up and they figured out we weren't going away. We were prepared to do whatever it took to get the deal consummated. We were able to do that. Rick: Bill talked about evaluating our team and our needs. We went through that. I'm more down the road in draft prep than Bill. We have an idea of what's available there. As we talked, that's when...we put tape on and watched film. We came out feeling if Brock was available, we both felt strongly he could be our QB. Speed element, how much does Lamar help? Hoyer's status? Rick: Apparent you need a couple of QBs in this league. Hoyer understands our scheme & team and is a valuable member of our team. Lamar, you can't coach speed. That's not all he offers. He's a complete RB. He has a skill set that will allow our creative coaches to utilize him. O'Brien: We witnessed it first hand this year. We feel good about Lamar on board and what he brings to the locker room and his skill set. McNair(on Lamar): I didn't immediately recognize him. I'm used to looking at his back. That's all I saw in Miami.

I REALLY wish we'd get our hands on a good pass-catching TE. Almost every great QB has one to fall back on (except Rogers, who probably wishes he did). Is there anyway CJ turns into the guy we need? Who else can be had? (I'm not totally opposed to Owen Daniels, but that's not ideal).
He could, but right now CJ is better in the blocking game than as a receiver. He's ideally more of a #2 TE
I'll reply to myself... TE FA List.. Ladarius Green was really the best guy by far, and he's gone... TE Vernon Davis, Broncos Unrestricted, 32 years old, 6-foot-3, 250 pounds 2015 stats: 38 catches, 395 yards, 0 touchdowns TE Ben Watson, New Orleans Saints Unrestricted, 35 years old, 6-foot-3, 255 pounds 2015 stats: 74 catches, 825 yards, 6 touchdowns TE Owen Daniels, Denver Broncos Unrestricted, 33 years old, 6-foot-3, 245 pounds 2015 stats: 46 catches, 517 yards, 3 touchdowns TE Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers Unrestricted, 36 years old, 6-foot-4, 255 pounds 2015 stats: 56 catches, 630 yards, 5 touchdowns
Free agent TEs Zach Miller Vernon Davis Jared Cook Jermaine Gresham Clay Harbor Andrew Quarless Scott Chandler James Hanna Logan Paulsen Owen Daniels Daniel Fells Tony Moeaki Rhett Ellison Tim Wright Jim Dray Garrett Graham Rob Housler David Johnson Kellen Davis Jeff Cumberland Anthony McCoy John Phillips Chase Coffman Dorin Dickerson
I'm okay going forward with CJ and Griffin, but I wish they'd draft someone, but I haven't really watched enough of the kids in this class to say for sure if there is anyone worth going after.
didn't realize they were gone too. Davis was such an athletic freak, that I feel like he would still be a better option than most. He's 3/4 years younger than Watson and Gates, and a year younger than Owen Daniels. I wouldn't bet that he'd just be super great, but he hasn't had a good qb in a while, and he came in pretty late to the Broncos last year. He's gotta be the best (and probably also the cheapest) option.
Wth is up with those pics? OB should be switched w.Cal, you cannot even see him in the dark over there in the shadows...
