EDIT: Pardon the errors...Radiation plays with my eyesight some nights:

    ______________________________________________________

Even if he plays well with a combination of our long-term guys, he belongs on the bench, with the potential to be a guy that contributes in areas where we have been deficient. If he has a great season, MAYBE you start him next year if you can't sign a legit PF.

Despite SuperCoolBeas' talent, and even if his offense is better than what DMo, Tj, Josh, Montrezl and Clint (depending on the matchup) encompass, it would be a very poor decision to start him. The only exception would be if there was a blatant mismatch.

I'm a fan of all of our PFs, including TJ, and I really don't want to debate the subjective views of his talent, on the basis of this season versus what he's done well in the past. Should Beas get his minutes? Right now, yes. But, come playoff time, I'm not sure. Experience is underrated. You want TJ to go out there and rebound/score a bit, you don't kill his sense of security by tossing him away. You take him aside, have a frank disc

Anyway, the main issue with starting Beas is chemistry, team morale and cameraderie.

Some of you may think that those things are minimal in importance, but they can absolutely destroy how a team operates with one another and their overall relationship with the coach. If our record were better, it may not be an issue, but because we're hanging on for dear life, it's important to have some sort of routine with rotations.

Starting a guy over guys who have been here much longer is a chemistry killer. Like a job, you earn your respect and opportunities over time. Even with the Lakers, when Kobe has been out for a month, and he starts just because of a marquee matchup, the young guys lose their trust in the coach and the process. You don't just throw a new guy, no matter how talented he is, into the starting lineup.

As a college coach, I know the game doesn't work that way, but I also know it doesn't work in the NBA except under complicated circumstances like injuries among other things.

However, if Beas earns his time on the court by out hustling the vets and evidencing chemistry with our current starting core, another exception can be made. Beas has a great game tonight, but again, most veteran coaches make you pay some dues before jumping you ahead in the rotation. And, as weird as it was, the only reason that KJ got more burn was because Philly's guys are on his level or below. What a great opportunity for him! (Even if I don't like his game)

I'm sure one of my "Ears" will tell me that Smoove isn't thrilled with his minutes, but honestly, the only pros he's brought to the game lately is some very underrated passing and defense. Most coaches would put him in the rotation ahead of Beas, but because of his minor injury, and the fact that Philly is young and fast, Beas was the better option. Again, it goes back to matchups.

Right now, Beas is best served coming off of the bench and being our killer sixth man. He's learning the system at epic speeds, but this is not the point in the season for an educaton. I totally agree that his shot is the best we have at the PF spot, arguable better than DMo (Sorry, but my opinion...DMO is a better passer and back-to-the basket post moves), but you have to stick with a system where confidence is maintained. It's so, so Crucial. .In some games, maybe Beas finishes with the big dogs, but JB follows a fairly consistent loyalty system, which I RESPECT.

There's nothing worse than guys who are unhappy because their playing time as their expectations are shattered based on a signing of a new guy (Beas)
If we're going to hit that 6th seed, we need all of the chemistry and morale possible before going to war.

I love our roster, and I pray to Jesus to accept Clint's stone hands:mad:, but I'm confident that JB is analyzing our push to the playoffs based on health, trends and leadership qualities that we desperately need. We seem broken at the moment, but we're fighting to hang on, and I have all confidence that we'll make the necessary noise to finish strong.

JB: you know how to coach. Don't change things up until you have a cushion to mess around with rotations.

LOVED that he ran the break with Harden and got rewarded with an easy slam.
And he can cover the 4 as a 'small'

The jury is still out. But I like what I saw tonight.
But then the Sixers can make anyone look like a superstar

Rox just might be "eccentric" enough with oddball players to actual make this work with Beasley...watching him run with Harden was a delight to see

No...but it's clear that the team would be much better without a set rotation. Play whoever is bringing it that night. We did that tonight and should have ran away with this one...if we apply this rule to EVERY player (including James Harden) my guess is we will start to see a lot more consistent effort and want to.

Props to KJ and Beas stepping in tonight. I hope they don't get glued to the bench when Jones comes back.

    Starters: Bev/harden/ariza/Beasley/Howard

    First rotation: Harden/mcdaniels/smith/harrel/Capella

With Beasley/Dmo/harrel/jones I think smith should be playing back up SF. I think he's ability to play inside the paint and 3pt ability helps not make our offense so predictable

I also think harden and smiths passing abilities from the arc and the paint would be great Benifit and most utilized when the youngsters like Kj/harrel/and Capella are playing

The rockets power forward spot the past few years reminds me of the Texans qb spot

codman I get what your saying I really do, but the rockets have been inconsistent at best this year with the guys you have named.

I don't think beasley should start at all I would keep DMO starting just because he knows the system and his teamates better and we need to get him back in shape and playing his best ball by playoff time.

But I also think beasley should be getting all of Jones and Smiths minutes until proven otherwise. Bottem line is he's just a better player right now. If any of those two should get minutes it's smith because he's a vet and understands basktball but jones has completely lost his confidence and let's be honest he won't be back with the team next year.

Beasley is on a cheap team option next season at minimum salary. It's in houstons immediate and long term future to get him going and see if he can be this teams 6th man offensive option off the bench going foward.

If Beasley does pan out as well as groudlock the rockets have hit home runs in terms of going after Durant that a lot of us are not even thinking about.

Being able to trot out Beasley/Ariza/ groudlock off the Bench with a staring lineup of Bev/JH/KD/Horford/Capela is lethal.

I'm not a fan of KJ either but if he plays well for the remainder of the season hes a guy you can include in a deal with brewer to shed salary because with the cap both of them are on very cap friendly deals. Especially is a team thinks KJ is a real player going foward.

I still believe this team can make some noise and I think they will because James Harden is so great and wants to put the team on its back and show everyone that he's still a mvp top 5 player, which he absolutly is.

The results haven't been the best so far since the break but the team is playing a lot better and harden is doing his all to get the guys going and I think they are responding to him in a positive way.

I think we do snag that 6th seed if we can win these next 2 games against Boston and Charlotte. 34-32 should have us tied with Portland and Dallas for The 6th seed heading home to play Memphis which is a totally winnable game. I like our chance against OKC in the playoffs and think we can win that series I really do and from their who knows. This is time for harden to prove all his doubters wrong and show he's the best and I think he's up for the challenge.

Beasley is just here to attract Durant in the off-season. Morey's trying to get all his friends onto the same team and let them pick their coach. That's the best strat he has vs actual contenders.

I would start Harrell with the rest of the 4 players you mentioned. He can defend
quite well, if he struggles then try Beasley instead.

Bickerstaff needs to try a lineup of

    Howard
    Beasly
    smith
    harden
    pat bev

Beasly and smith are above average passers, harden and smith, and Beasly will ally all day to Dwight, Patbev in for d.

We will need to start him in the playoffs. The only way to beat the MVP of the league, is to roll out our MVP of a league.

He looks to score and gets baskets we weren't getting before. I'm really happy with how he looked against the Sixers. His effect seems to be similar to the energy that Smoove brought. He's not as creative as Smoove, but he gets the scoreboard moving all the same. Nice pickup.

Beas is one of those rare talents that could finally turn it all around this late in the game. Morey loves taking chances on these type of players, but few have had the goods like Mike. Most of his "issues" don't exactly scare me away as they seem like the actions of almost any young adult instantly turned millionaire and dropped off in Miami. I feel the best of Michael Beasley has still yet to be seen.
