I have seen the Nelson, Duet, Hoppiness & Hoppy Birthday all pretty widely available here recently -, those are the 4 that are made at Green Flash it appears (sometimes their even in green-flash stamped bottles with alpine labels, which was weird to me until i read that) so I guess they are distributing them nationwide now.

There's a great newish Virginia brewery - Lickinghole Creek - that I have had a lot of recently but probably hard to find outside of the state . Lots of great large-format bottles of bigger beers (stouts etc).

I highly recommend a trip to the Jester King brewery in Dripping Springs. Great beer, great "scenery", great scenery, great pizza joint on the premises. Five stars, would hit again.

Second this. My brother picked up a case of this last week and it is awesome. One of the best local beers I've ever had.

Tried all 3 colors of Chimay, red was my favorite. Divine 16 was good too, first time drinking one the year it came out.

might I ask where you found this? Been waiting on this for about a year after talking to an 8th Wonder employee about their plans to bottle Rocket Fuel. My favorite Houston beer and i'm temporarily living outside of the loop so it's not as easily accessed on tap.

I just wrote a book where a Narwhal is the main character so it all seems on the up and up.

It's very imperial (means lots of extra grain, yeast, but less water for those that don't study beer) so it's hard to drink two without feeling it.

Anyone read, A History of the World in 6 Glasses yet?

FWIW, my brother-in-law (and twin sister) are founders of 11 Below Brewing on the NW side of town.

    http://11belowbrewing.com/

It's three couples (mostly engineers) that made the switch less than two years ago from the engineering work force to making beer for Houstonians. They are located near Willowbrook Mall at 249 and the Beltway and can be found in bars and restaurants all over the city. Cans are located at all HEBs, Whole Foods, Specs, etc. Beers in increasing ABV:

    7 Iron - session ale
Oso Bueno - American amber pale
Lame Duck - American pale ale
Color Blind - American pale ale
Negative Space - Imperial Chocolate Milk Stout
Big Mistake - Barrel-Aged Russian Imperial Stout

Brewery is open every Thursday for hh, Friday for hh and Saturday from noon to 3 PM.

Check it out and give it a try!

I've had Oso Bueno (have some in the fridge right now) and Lame Duck many times. Good beers.

@rubytuesday I've had the Color Blind IPA on tap several times and have enjoyed it very much.

Not a craft beer anymore, but just had a 6 pack of the new Shiner Coffee Ale (108th Birthday Beer) dropped off. I tend to dig darker coffee beers when it's cold - like Oskar Blues Hotbox Porter, Real Ale Coffee Porter, and the gold-standard Goose Island's Bourbon County Coffee Stout. Shiner's is lighter than those, both as a beer and with it's coffee flavor. Not amazing, not bad, would drink again
