Carr would have sucked here just like his brother. Too many negatives in contrast to Oakland which is/was the perfect spot. He's from California, no/low team expectations, no brother's history to deal with, etc... It was a great spot for him to land and develop. Here not so much.

It's comedic, all I can picture is McNair telling Smith " You'll get em next time tiger!".

Heck of a day for Rick. Now go get a TE and Wr in the draft. Of course 1 more pass rusher wouldn't hurt

What if Zeke is there at 22? That would be interesting

Would be awesome, but sadly I think he will not be available.

If Rick Smith is all-in... Trade up to get him!

I was just watching Zoolander and thought the same thing, without having seen your post.

I thought it was reported that Rick Smith wanted to wait to cut Mallet after that week's game? And that's what happened...so I would say it was Rick Smith that got his way in that situation.

This is my understanding as well. Rick didn't want to go into the game without a backup QB just in case Hoyer got hurt and wanted to wait until after that week's game.

Bob McNair has had outsiders tell him Smith is doing a good job. Since 2006 they have only had 2 losing seasons (including the 2010 season that saw them lose 3 or 4 games in some wild ways.) He hands out smart contracts and nails his first round picks. He's fine.

It's all the armchiar draft nerds; people who sit in their homes and casually watch college football and read various sites have convinced themselves they know *anything* about player evaluation has created a cottage industry of know-it-all "experts." They know exactly two things: jack and ****.

The NFL draft is a total crapshoot. The best teams - the very best teams - bomb drafts all the time.

Smith has - I would think well above his peers - nailed his first round picks. And I mean... NAILED them. His 2s and 3s have obviously been lacking; he needs to hit on more of those. But he's been a perfectly competent GM.

He's nailed them...if you think he's making the picks and not Kubiak, Wade and B'Ob
