The Texans were desperate to get a QB.

Still not really apt because Rodgers never hit the market and had multiple teams bidding on him; Green Bay essentially controlled the process. It's *closer*...

I actually think the closest comparison is maybe Brees - much longer/better track record but the injury made him a risk. He signed a 6/$60MM with $8MM guaranteed - but that was also 10 years ago.

If Rick and BOB weren't desperate then we'd have a problem.

Look, you can criticize the position the Texans are in. Our previous drafts, free agent signings, etc. are all ripe for second-guessing. But once you accept that we are in a position where we absolutely, positively need to find an answer at the QB position... then this move is 100% the correct one. Sure, it might flame out, but every other alternative probably would too.

Again, given where we are as a team RIGHT NOW, this is the move that needed to be made.

Went to the playoffs five times and won a Super Bowl in his first five years as a starter. I'll take it...

Schaub ran the 40 in over 5 seconds. He was not athletic.

Defend him all you want, but no one would ever refer to Schaub as mobile, a term used to describe Osweiler.

Look, quarterbacks cost a LOT of money. The average QB makes something like $18,000,000 a year.... if Osweiler is an average starting QB, the Texans did well... he didn't cost him any draft picks and is only 25.

Brock certainly can fail, but I wouldn't compare him to players like Flynn. The problem with Flynn is arm strength, and that is not a problem with Osweiler.

I think it will be a big mistake. Hitting on FA QBs is hard.

While he definitely got slower, post-injury, Schaub was never fast nor athletic. He did run the bootleg to perfection - but that doesn't require being fast or athletic; more deceptive to buy yourself time to roll out - but remember, he was always a second or 2 late getting to his spot. Close your eyes and remember all those times Andre Johnson had to slow down to catch one of Schaub's passes...
