Interesting choice of words... as it seems like unless they've already walked away, they're already in the bidding war.

Also makes the Texans seem like some big-bad aggressive spender... when in fact they could very well be bidding against themselves right now, with the Broncos facilitating.

What's the alternative? Fans have been screaming for at least three years for the Texans to invest in a QB, and now that they look ready to do it - with a 25-year old former second round pick, selected by the architect of the most recent Super Bowl champion who has mentored under arguably the greatest QB of all-time - everyone is now complaining about it.

So, give us a better alternative than Osweiler.

There was a report last night that the Broncos haven't had any talks with Brock since their initial offer. It's possible that they are doing a "take it or leave it" scenario and won't get in a bidding war for him.

It's just a big commitment for a guy who hasn't proven to be very good at football. He's better than Hoyer though, so at least there's that.

Drafting a QB or another stopgap on a short deal like Fitz is better than letting a dude cash out after like 6 games when he didn't look stellar when he played. Be smart, not desperate.

Oh, do you not like Hoyer?...

It's not necessarily a big commitment, though - depends on how the deal is structured. They could, as they did with Schaub, front load the deal and have a relatively easy out after two years. Also, if he's truly unhappy in Denver, it might be agreeable to signing what is essentially a one-year deal - do well, and they'll rip it up and he'll make considerably more long-term money.

And "not very good at football" seems like a pretty rash assessment - not that you're known for making those. He looked like, well, a first-year starter last year who showed some flashes.

One thing I mentioned previously that I think a lot of people are forgetting: the Texans and Broncos scrimmaged two years ago, and I'm guessing... I'm guessing BOB did his homework on Osweiler while he was there. Probably saw a lot of him; openly discussed him with Fox and Elway... he may very well have a decent feel for Osweiler.

I am not a fan of the Texans ownership or front office.

They have not developed or addressed the quarterback position in YEARS.

Having said that, they are now at a minimum attempting to address the position.

John McClain actually "broke" this early this morning. Osweiler's agent was set to resume negotiations with the Broncos today.

I'll be shocked if they don't lock him up.

They should take a gamble on RG3 instead of Osweiler.

That would be taking on the big risk and going for the hype texans never do that... that's their history hence their failure.

So much for the twitter account saying BOB was on a plane to Denver this morning lol:

How is signing Brock Osweiler *not* a risk? And while hype is a word that has zero meaning in this context and is irrelevant - how is signing the biggest free agent QB on the market somehow not, as you would say, "going for the hype"?

Signing Osweiler is not a big risk we know he's a backup qb that will no doubt be mediocre at best. Texans been doing that bs for years.
