It was legal until a few months ago. So regardless of who it was, it isn't a huge deal to me. Legal is legal, so she cheated in one tournament

If anything, I think people are making too big a deal of this. Seems like something that a ton of players were doing, there was just a breakdown in communication in her camp for her to stop doing it now that it was banned.

I have always disliked Maria. I still don't like her at all.

That being said, it was a positive for her to address it with a press conference and take responsibility. She didn't have to do that.

She was responsible for knowing what was banned and not banned. I know that most players are very careful about medicines they are taking even if they have a cold, or their muscles hurt from the workouts because they don't want to take any banned substances. Maria should have been more careful.

She didn't go from being an angel to being a devil because of this. It isn't the worst thing any tennis player has ever done, but the rules are the rules.

I dislike Maria, but not as much as I can't stand Serena. Though, I will say that Serena actually has taken some positive steps lately. She wasn't a sore loser when she lost the Australian like she normally is. So I will give her credit for that.

 

I think James Harden uses too much Rogaine on his chin.

 

Tennis probably has bigger fish to fry anyway with the match fixing allegations going on.

The testing science is generally well behind the drugs these athletes take and Sharapova just got caught up with. 10 years is way too long to be taking notes that drug, per reports, unless it was for the tremendous endurance benefits.

She has a strong brand and was smart to jump out in front of this before her suspension was determined and rumors leaked. Brilliant move to hold a pressed and take responsibility and then claim to be worried about every ailment this drug gets used for.

The media is definitely going easy on her. This is supposedly one of the common doping agents used by Eastern European athletes. Her team or she should have been on higher alert. They can move on to other non-tested agents now. She'll have about 2-4 years to learn which ones are her "favorite family history of diabetes" treatment.

For a first offense with a drug that was OK until 2016 when she was winning her tournaments.
