A Democrat can always get away with racist remark while Donald Trump is called a white supremacist when he has no link to any hate group and many times disavowed them.

Remember the time when Clinton called gas station clerks, Gandhi? Just a joke? Well how about the time Clinton endorsed former KKK leader? Now can you imagine the outrage if Trump did that? There is double standard whether you want to admit or not.

Invoking Clinton as a standard for morality is a pretty low bar.

Republicans are widely seen to be anti minority, anti immigrant, and anti poor not just in rhetoric but in policy for good reason. People understand the difference between a racial gaff that differs in spirit from a politician's policies and a racial statement that lines up perfectly well with a politician's policies. That context sorta matters a lot.

You support Trump, a candidate whose own party leadership has trashed for racist rhetoric. Seriously? Bahaha.

Sanders' response was in regard to a question about racism so yes his answer was clearly in regard to things he cites as symptoms of racism. I've had a chance to listen to the debate since then and in the full context that is clearly what he is saying.

Now I agree he could've worded it better and maybe explained why he felt there was a tie between poverty, ghettos and harassment by the LE but you have to consider his audience and there he is speaking to an audience who already accept that connection.

In the end this seems like a manufactured controversy.

I think I understand what you're saying that there's no such thing as negative press and the more press gets the more it benefits that candidate. I think you're giving more credit for cleverness to the campaigns than they deserve.

It's pretty obvious that they are attacking Clinton much more than Sanders because they think she is the person who's going to win the Dem primaries. If Sanders represented a threat that they felt was going to be harder to take on than Clinton there would be more criticism at Sanders to try to drive down his vote. At this point the GOP has calculated that they don't need to do that.

Context was summarizing what a BLM girl told him and then making his own statements. The context isn't difficult to understand and your summary of his statement was WAY off.

Just like everything else in the elections. You can't just say some incredibly dumb stuff on TV and not expect a reaction from people. He was pandering hard for black vote and misfired. I doubt it will hurt him because he is already on a sinking ship.

In Bandwagoner and ATW's world, I'm paid by someone, presumably my government, to be critical of that government's biggest allies in the D&D section of a Houston Rockets BBS. Makes total sense. If anything, I'll be the one paying for my posts if I don't watch it.

If anyone is paying for that kind of work though, please let me know!!!!!!

This is what happens when you combine the minds of Bandwagoner and ATW.

The banning of an entire religious group? Oh Islam isn't a race? Well, let's use a more accurate label then... 'Bigotry'. Is that fine? Is that fine with you Bandwagoner and your game of 'pedantic diction'?

Who said they would ban Islam? That is certainly against the constitution.

Based on what I have heard Bernie's comment is the most racist (and completely false) thing said by any candidate.

Islam is a supremacist ideology. Nothing wrong with being against it.

It's an ideology that most who hold it were BORN INTO.

What would you say is a reasonable guess for the percentage of humans that profess the religion their parents raised them as? 90%? 80%? It's an overwhelming majority.

So when someone like Bandwagoner believes that barring an entire religious group from immigrating to the U.S. is less bigoted than stating that White people have trouble empathizing with minority issues, know that someone is a complete idiot.

99% of people who make this strawman argument especially on Facebook political meme posts would not be the ones 'providing' in their hypothetical 'Bernie is going redistribute all my wealth' scenario.

I happen to know for a fact that there is a cadre of multimillionaires going around neighborhoods and cutting Bernie signs in half.

It is true that most were born into it, but that is the inside out view. What about the view from outside in? Does it matter whether someone was born into it when they try to force their beliefs on you? Or do you just want to keep it away, and legitimately so?
