Id like to think that Americans are smart enough that they would not allow Trump to win the nomination but I know that most republicans are stupid so it's difficult to say.
There is a huge difference between the "idiocy" required to vote for Trump and the "idiocy" required to vote for Clinton. They aren't even close to the same thing. *insert Bobby rant about Clinton indictment here
I would agree that it takes a much more idiotic person to vote for Trump than to vote for Clinton, however both take pretty stupid people. Both Trump and Clinton are fairly awful candidates that in any normal year wouldn't stand a chance.
Yeah, no kidding. I don't understand what the hell people who consider themselves democrats are doing. Friends of mine who I know are liberal democrats are working to sink Trump's candidacy and are actively working the will of the republican establishment. The establishment that brought us the Iraq War, re-elected GWB then spent the last 7+ years doing nothing but obstructing the democrats at every turn, by the way. The republicans don't fear Trump because they think he's going to cause war and recession, they fear him because they don't think he's a true republican (he's not). The republicans are on the verge of nominating someone who is not a true conservative, and idiot democrats can't help but get in the way. It's infuriating. And it's also funny to be lectured about danger from people who re-elected GWB. GTFO with that BS (this is not directed to anyone here, just a general statement).
The more I listen and watch both sides, the more I'm convinced none of these people is fit to be President. Sanders doesn't understand what this country was built on, Clinton is only interested in continuing to get privately rich off the public's money, Trump is a blow-hard who has no real ideas, and Cruz is only interested in turning this into a Puritanical state complete with Scarlet Letter-style branding. Where's the clone of FDR when you need him??
I would agree, this year's crop is pretty awful all around. It's sad to think that we'll have had 16 years of bad presidents and it's looking like at least 4 more years of bad presidents is ahead of us. LOL, no.

well if you believe that Trump is worse than Clinton, then isn't actually smart to vote for Hilary? If you are stuck between two choices, the prudent thing is to vote for the better of the two.

Man, reading comments like this is sad. Everybody does it, but this kind of rhetoric shows no actual interest in governing or the mechanics of running a country. Genuine differences of opinion are treated like symptoms of a mental disorder and denigrated into outright distortion. We live in a country of almost 320 million people. No one ideology on the "conservative vs. liberal" spectrum is ever going to "win" and pummel the other one into the history books. Our government isn't designed for that to happen. The difference is that now there is no interest in governing our large country. In the past, there were true differences of opinion on how to address issues (Civil Rights, dealing with the strengths and weaknesses of the social safety net) and a willingness to compromise. The ideological rigidity that leads to calling anybody who disagrees about process and scope with you an "idiot" is what leads to our current gridlock that's unable to see past the next election cycle. And the void created in this discourse leads to demagogues like Donald Trump ascending to power.
